Yeah, I know. There is a lot of shortening and sugar in these little goodies, but for a treat once in a while, I can’t resist. Every once in a while, you simply have to pamper yourself!
1 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar (don’t pack it)
1/3 cup of white sugar
2 eggs
2 1/4 cup of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
generous handful of chocolate and caramel flavored chips
1. Oven: 375 F
2. Spray or butter 13×9 inch pan
3. combine butter, sugars and eggs and beat until fluffy.
4. Spoon out and spread in above pan.
5. Sprinkle top with flavored chips.
6. Place pan in centre of oven and bake for a couple of minutes. At this point, you are simply trying to melt the chips.
7. Remove from oven and marbelize the surface by running a knife through the batter.
8. Return to oven and continue baking for an additional 20 minutes or until centre is set. (I use a wooden skewer to check)
9. Allow to cool on a cookie rack and then cut into squares. I use a pizza cutter, but be sure not to ruin the surface of the baking pan.
