When you’re constantly under public scrutiny, there is a certain pressure to be and look appealing. That seems fairly obvious of course, but lately there has been a swirl of attention on Michelle Obama and the makeup artist who travels with her, Ingrid Grimes-Miles.

Having a makeup artist on staff, or at least on call, is fairly typical for people in the spotlight. I think it’s probably safe to say as the first lady, Michelle Obama would be one of those people. But still – times are tough right now and maybe it was a slow news day, which is why the New York Post ran with the story.
It’s easy to find fault when money is being spent in a tough economy – but my guess is if Michelle didn’t have perfectly sculpted brows and artfully placed fake eyelashes…there would still be stories about her makeup. Only they would include some harsh critiques of her appearance instead of indulgences.
I say, good for her. If I had my way, I would love to have a professional working on my personal appearance every day..or at least more often than practically never! The biggest change was the shape of her eyebrows, and if you were paying attention early on in the presidential race, you know those were some severe arches.
The difference is noticable, but not too much. But more important than her eyebrows or the exact shade of eyeshadow she uses, Michelle continues to prove herself to be a super beautiful and inspiring first lady.

The make up artist has a full time gig, think of it as economic stimulus…
I’m sure she is using her own money for this so I have no problem with it and thinks it’s a wise investment!
I totally agree with you tinat! Yep, the reports have indicated that the makeup artist was brought on at the Obama’s expense. Funny what people will get all bent out of shape about, eh?
