Project Runway, Season Three is Coming Down to the Wire

Well, here we are almost at the end of another season of Project Runway – my feelings about this one have become rather mixed, as is probably obvious from my lack of commentary about it this season. I thought this season was much more blatantly about “what makes good tv” rather than who is the best designer.

Unless Keith was really duped by the producers (I sure hope not!), I was fine with him being booted off – he was evil, even though a good designer. I do believe that good should overpower evil, even if the devil is the best designer. But there were several times I think the show chose drama over fashion – most notably Jeffery not being kicked off after the Mother’s episode (omg was that the ugliest dress I could even imagine seeing), and also choosing to kick Alison rather than that crazy “tv moment-making” Vincent.

jeffHaving already said that I don’t think Jeff should have made it to the final four, I really do think that he has shown himself to be an incredible designer, and from what I have seen from Bryant Park, I think he should win. These “visiting the designers at home” segments always make me sympathetic (I even found the softer side of Santino at the end of the 2nd season – and I didn’t think that was possible). I don’t think Jeff is evil, just a little bit of a turd. I also have confirmed my thoughts that Laura is pretty much a…well, you know. Of course, this assumes that the shuffling of receipts that Jeffery did was just a touch of drama, and that he didn’t actually cheat. I hope he didn’t feel the need to do that.

I sure wanted Michael to win, but his designs just faltered this time – he is more personality than great design, maybe. Who is the fourth designer? Oh yeah Uli. I guess that says enough. LOL I love Uli, I really do, but her collection just doesn’t do anything for me – I would have rather seen a bunch of flowy print dresses, methinks.

Anyway, there is my PR rant for this week – I love love love the show, I really do – but I hope they take it back to basics next time and quit thinking that they need to focus on showmanship so much, it is distracting, and takes away from the incredible “reality” of the show.

[...] Even though I am a tad frustrated with the made up drama of this season, I am still very excited – and hope that it is Jeffrey, and still can’t believe I am even saying that. About Me, Beauty News, Style Add to:                      October 18th 2006 | Permalink | No Comments » [...]

I hate how they play with my heart, after seeing the home visits I wanted Uli to win just because of her story.
