
You know her, right?
Maybe not. It’s Clara Bow, and she was the most famous movie star in America in 1927 (when she was 24). But what I always think is neat about her is that she doesn’t look like one of those silent movie stars who is clearly a silent movie star – even though she defined the notion of the “it girl.” She always looks as though she could easily have been a star in the 60′s or 70′s or right now. I mean, if she let her eyebrows grow back. Because that is the major way that we have evolved in a century.
