With everyone cutting back and taking the time to reflect and think about how to conserve and save money, it makes sense for you to take a hard look at how much is being spent on toiletries and beauty products. Do you really need to use huge dollops of expensive face creams and soaps every day…twice a day?
Even if you feel totally tied to your high
end choices, think of it this way -
Your average luxury cleanser costs between $40-50 per 4oz. Whether it’s the brand name or the special ingredients, you’re paying for it (well we both are – I have my pricey products I can’t live without either).
At $40-50 for 4oz of cleanser, if you’re going through a bottle every month, that will cost you $480-$600 per year – just is soap to wash your face.
But then there’s the question of how much you’re going to compromise quality by choosing a drugstore brand. Well, the only way to know whether it’s worth the change is to try one out. Last week I gave Cetaphil Gentle Daily Cleanser a try – at $10.99 for 16 ounces, that could easily last for four months!
I’m happy to say my skin is smooth, soft and not at all fazed by the change in routine.
So how much could I save?
By using Cetaphil alone, you could have an extra $560 dollars in your back pocket. If I alternate between my usual cleanser and Cetaphil, then you are still saving $200-300 per year.
Think about the shoes that could buy! And that’s an easy change. Just by taking a minute to reevaluate how your money is spent on toiletries and cosmetics, there is the opportunity to save hundreds of dollars and still have beautiful skin.
