Beauty has always fascinated me. As a wee kid, I’ve picked up my mum’s lipstick and had squashed it all around my lips, hence, ending up looking like a clown — even when I try to pucker up in front of the mirror. And the minute she finds out that I’ve ruined her favourite tube, I’d adamantly claim that I did not do it, how dare she accuse a 5 year old kid. Heh.
Ah, the joys of playing dress up.
I grew up leaning towards boyish activities and that’s one of the main reasons I dropped makeup and all the girl-y things. Most of my classmates in highschool were starting to put on powder, eye liner and lipstick as I strangely look on wondering why I’m drawn to it and why I’m not doing it myself. I even watched my sister put on makeup one day then said, “Yech. Makeup! You’ll never catch me wearing makeup!” Then years passed, growing up an awkward female. Until I entered the world of fashion.
There was a period in my life when I had hated the colour of my brown skin (twas during highschool, too). My mum can only shake her head as she watch me go through product after product just to make my skin lighter, fairer. I had believed in the myth that having a light skin tone will automatically make you beautiful. I had desperately wanted to be pretty (yes, me and my childhood insecurities, heh). Twas only later on that I realised that it doesn’t really matter, anyone and everyone can look beautiful. We just need to learn how to embrace ourselves. I know it sounds cheesy as hell but hey it’s true, learn to love yourself and you will look lovely I’m sure.
Hi, I’m Sasha and I’m an Asian. I mainly blog about fashion over at Tops 2 Bottoms and Style Manila. Been at it for the past couple of years. But now, I’m here to let you in on the secrets of Asian Beauty. Er, not that there’s any at all. LOL. Though, I’ve heard quite a number of people comment on how beautiful the skins of Asians are. I often get compliments about mine when I travel or friends I meet online and they’d see my photos. Well, enough about that.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and engage in all the conversations we’ll have on Asian Beauty. I’m planning to share beauty finds on skin care, makeup, and even hair care if it’s possible. Also, if you want me to tell you my own personal beauty regimen and makeup application techniques, just let me know. I’ll be more than happy to share.
Feel free to shoot me an email at sasha [@] b5media [.] com if you want to throw some questions my way.
Keep me company, alright? Boy, am I glad to be here! Thanks for the opportunity, CJ! And welcome back to Beauty Bento Box!

Yea, I hear and see that all the time. Filipinos were fed (and still are, by the media) that mentality “white/fair skin is beautiful” hence forgetting that it (skin tone) doesn’t really matter. Hehe. I’ve met a lot of Caucasians (both Americans and Europeans) who’d notice my “gorgeous” skin tone. It did wonders to my ego. LOL. Thanks, Dexie! :D
You are so perfect for this blog :)
It amazes me how the Western culture pay loads of money to get our natural Asian all-year long tan while the people back in the Philippines spend so much time trying to be “white”. Heh. Strange World. I’m glad you’ve gotten over your own insecurities. You’re beautiful as you are and then some :)
