Shadow Shields

When I was backstage at Jason Wu’s show for Fashion Week, MAC’s MUA Gina Bettelli was giving a great tip for catching that residual eyeshadow that sometimes sprays off your lid and onto the area below your eye–wet a round cotton pad and hold it under your eye as you apply the eye shadow. I remember thinking it was a great tip, but thought that there had to be a better way. I’m not coordinated as it is, so holding a cotton pad under my eye while using the other hand to apply my eyeshadow is a disaster waiting to happen.

Enter Shadow Shields. Literally days after coming home from Fashion Week they told me about their brand spanking new product. It is a thin textured pad that curves under your eye and sticks to your skin (without leaving glue behind) so that you can go about your usual eye shadow routine without attempting a balancing act. Shadow Shields comes in a box of 50 and while it took a little trial and error for me to find the spot under my eye that wasn’t sensitive to having the shield sticking to it, once I got it, it worked fabulously. Where were these when I was applying MAC’s Rush Metals?!

Check out the video above from Shadow Shields and see how they work yourself–pretty neat!

Nice product. I also read that dusting loose powder under the eye before eye shadow application is good too. The loose powder catches the shadow that falls. Once you’re done applying eye shaodow, just wipe off the loose powder with a brush.
