On a whim, I dropped by The Face Shop in Glorietta, Makati City the very same day when I shopped for my MAC fafi. Twas my first stop, actually. I had thought that I ought to give their makeup a try. Write up an Eastern Experiments post on them. But for now, I’ll just be sharing my initial impressions on the eyeliner.
One of the things I bought is the Shimmer Liner Pencil in Golden Bronze. I came across this liner a while back when J, wife of teh boyfriend’s cousin, and I got to talking about makeup. I found it very intriguing. I had wondered how it would look like on me. So, when I saw it that day, I decided to put it in the basket and bring it home so I can begin experimenting.
I like putting on eyeliners but this will be the first time I’ll be using something with shimmer. I always go for the conventional browns or taupes and occasionally, blacks.
Packaging is quaintly cute. Mixed feelings with the floral and uneven-tipped cap. I’ve casually tried using it a couple of times but before I transcribe my thoughts, I reckon I need to set my mind to “review-mode” it while I’m using it so I can note my observations effectively. Stay tuned for a full review and perhaps a EOTD photo. What do you think?

Hi i’m michelle. I came upon your blog by chance and found that you have bought The Face Shop shimmer pencil. I also bought one recently and would like to find out how do i sharpen it when its tip is blunt? As its not a pencil nor a bottem tip turn pencil. Do i throw it away once i have use the top part?
That was actually a BIG question I had after I bought it. I failed to ask the sales person, who btw didn’t volunteer the information either.
But after a thorough inspection of the pencil, I discovered an opening at the other end. I inserted a stick (clean, of course) and pushed at whatever that was blocking the passage way. Guess what? I got more shimmery goodness at the tip. Tis a guerilla method of “sharpening” the thing but that beats wasting money by throwing it away, don’t you agree?
Sharpening was a bit of a mystery to me too, actually. But I found out that the pencil is actually made of a soft plastic that sharpens very easily. So, you’re actually suppose to sharpen it like a normal wooden pencil.
Just thought I’d let you know!
The idea of sharpening the plastic is a bit strange but if it can be sharpened as you said then I reckon it won’t be a problem! Thanks for sharing that.
