The Beauty of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil, Virgin, Liquid, Organic, 16 oz.This interesting article from a nutritionist writing for the Manila Bulletin Online recommends the use of extra virgin coconut oil for overall health, as well as attributes it to the diminishing of blemishes on her face.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, although with saturated fats is made up mostly of medium chain triglycerides. Unlike other oils which are digested using bile and pancreatic enzymes, extra virgin coconut oil goes immediately to the liver and is converted to energy. It contains Lauric acid, a medium chain fatty acid, which is responsible for many of its health benefits. Extra Virgin coconut oil contains 48 percent to 53 percent Lauric acid. It is similar to the fats found in mother’s breast milk that confers immunity to babies. Lipid coated viruses such as HIV, Measles, Herpes Simplex, Vesicular stomatitis virus, Influenza virus, and Hepatitis C can be inactivated by monolaurin derived from Lauric acid. Lipid coated bacteria include H. Pylori, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococci, and H. Influenza.

There are many ways to use your extra virgin coconut oil. You can rub it topically to your skin as a moisturizer of make-up remover. You can also use it to condition hair, pour it on your scalp and massage it. Of course you can sip your extra virgin coconut oil by mixing one tablespoon EVCO with warm food or drink. And, finally, EVCO may be used for sautéing and frying as replacement for other cooking oils. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil can definitely be used as an alternative to butter and margarine in your dishes.

  4. [...] Christina of eBeautyDaily made a short piece on the beauty of extra virgin coconut oil. This being a product of the Philippines, I can’t help but promote it in this site of course. Thanks for your article supporting our industry.A lot of confusion over the years has led to coconut oil being ignored as what we term a “SuperFood”.
