A Lesson in Michael Kors

Are you often confused by the names of the designer collections? Today, we give you a little lesson about Michael Kors.

New York-born Michael Kors (whose real name is Karl Anderson, Jr.) began to rise to fame in the early 1980s but his career didn’t begin to really flourish until he was named the women’s ready-to-wear designer for French design house Celine in 1997. After much success, Kors decided to leave Celine in late 2003 to concentrate on his own brand and that’s when his own collections took off.

So, what’s with all the names of the Michael Kors collections? In addition to the Michael Kors signature runway collection, there is MiCHAEL by Michael Kors and KORS by Michael Kors, which were both launched in 2004.

The KORS line is the mid-level line that is priced between the runway collection and the MICHAEL collections. The affordable MICHAEL line includes both ready-to-wear apparel and accessories. The KORS line also includes footwear.

The MICHAEL collection is perfect for those looking for the high quality and creativity you’d expect from a designer collection without the high price tag.

Here’s one of my favorite handbags available from Nordstrom right now from the line.

The ‘Desert’ leather satchel features front buckled flap pockets and a drawstring top. Inside the roomy interior, there is a key clip, as well as zip and slip pockets.

This MICHAEL by Michael Kors bag is big enough to carry everything you need – magazine, wallet bottle, cell phone, wallet, makeup bag and other essentials.

You can get this bag in walnut-colored washed leather right now at Nordstrom for $398.

His real name is Karl Anderson, Jr.?? Wow, I had no idea. No wonder he changed it! Picked a good one, too :-)

I LOVE Michael Kors! Though his bags tend to be a tad on the small side for my taste. But they are lovely. And the shoes!
