True Beauty episode 4 recap
Original Air Date: 01/26/2009
We’re down to seven contestants and we’re one step closer to finding out who the True Beauty in the house is! When CJ arrives at the house, most of the people are happy and Julia says that having one less girl in the house is less competition to her. Laura is curious to find out what CJ’s secret is and what he’s saying to the judges that is keeping him the house week after week, even after going to the Hall of Beauty. Ray feels threatened by CJ, and I can see why. The guy has impressed the judges two weeks in a row, so it’s clear he’s a force to be reckoned with.
The house feels that CJ is secluding himself from everyone else. Billy is getting on CJ’s last nerve and CJ is sure that Billy is fake. I can see this. I think Billy is the oldest in the group, so he’s more experienced which probably will case him to be more cut throat in the long run.
They arrive at their next challenge where host Vanessa Minillo explains the task. They will pose for a True Beauty campaign (not sure what this means) and their photographs will be “aged” to see how the contestants will look when they’re older. Laura’s is by far the worst, and she says she almost threw up when she saw it. I can’t say I blame her. She practically looked like an old man! The men age the best, as is always the case. Totally NOT. FAIR!
The beautiful people will have to come up with a theme and slogan for a timeless beauty ad. They’ll work in teams, but not with each other…with mature people, the oldest of which is 101 years old! She looks great and more importantly, she gets around better than I do! The group takes turns choosing who they’ll work with, and everyone seems to get along with who they chose (or in CJ’s case, got stuck with, since he had the last pick).
It’s time for wardrobe, and the judges will watch how the contestants interact with their elderly partners. There’s only one chair in the makeup room, so the judges want to see if the contestants will offer the one chair to their partner or hog it for themselves, and also see how they respect their partners. Some pass, and some fail the chair test, but surprisingly CJ did not offer his seat to his female partner. Neither did Billy or Joel, although they were working with men. Do you think this made a difference?
When they come up with the slogans, the contestants do well and once the pictures start, everyone does a great job. Julia is SO beautiful! I really hope she steps up her game in the inner beauty department so she can make it to the end. It looks like all of the pictures are coming out great, and I hope we get to see them at some point.
After the shoot is done, they head back to the house and have a backyard BBQ. Vanessa shows up and tells the group they’re playing a little game. They must select names from a hat and give the best impression they cam of the person they chose. It’s hilarious, especially Laura doing Chelsea, Chelsea doing Julia, and Julia doing Joel. It was crazy hilarious! Joel doing Laura CRACKS ME UP to no end, but only one person can win and see the pictures from the shoot with Vanessa. Joel wins, but I’m not sure what this means, other than he’s allowed to see the pics?
Joel reports back to everyone and says Billy’s looks cheesy. CJ isn’t happy with what Joel tells him about his picture, and lets it get to him. Billy is nervous and tells Laura he has a feeling he might be in the bottom two this week. Laura is the last person you should come to with a problem like this! It’s clear she doesn’t even care! HA!
The group takes a look at their pictures with the judges, and Billy’s is awful. It isn’t his partner either, it’s Billy! He looks like a total cheeseball! Laura’s is gorgeous, as is Julia’s. I can’t pick between the two. Joel’s is a cool concept, but I don’t think it was conveyed in the pictures. CJ pipes in that he can’t believe the photographer chose this shot of him because it was the worst one. Not sure how he knows this since he didn’t see the pictures, but whatever. Joel wins the challenge (WHAT?!) and CJ and Billy are in the bottom two.
Yes, CJ is in the bottom two AGAIN! WTH?! Is he going home this week? Billy has a disgusting personality so on the final challenge, I’m betting good money that he’ll fail the test and CJ will ace it once again. Before Billy goes to the Hall of Beauty, he has a chat with Chelsea who gets him pumped. I have a feeling this guy is going to crack under the pressure.
Tonight’s last test will involve a little girl crying for her mother. We’ll see who helps her and who doesn’t. Billy aces it, but let’s face it – this final straw is far more upsetting than the previous ones we’ve seen. If you saw someone litter, you might not go behind them and clean up their trash. If you see a small child crying and lost, you most likely ARE going to stop and try to help. They’re on opposite ends of the spectrum, imho.
In the Hall of Beauty, Vanessa points out that it’s CJ’s third week there and asks him to explain why he should stay. Good lord this guy knows how to talk to people! He convinces me! Billy gets a little nervous at first, but then he gets it together and tells the judges he feels they were right about his pictures, but he would love to stay. OK? That’s it? Billy stays and CJ gets the boot, and I’m guessing that’s because CJ he ignored the little girl crying on the street! Honestly, I think it’s because he was stressed about being in the bottom two again or something, because that just doesn’t strike me as being his nature.
Oh well! We’re down to six beauties! Next week the challenge takes them into the wilderness and it looks like some of them won’t know how to deal.
