True Beauty episode recap
Original Air Date: 02/16/2009
We’re down to only four pretty people in the house, and I have a feeling the secret challenges are going to begin to get a little more difficult. Last week Ray got the boot, and there’s a little chemistry going on between Laura and Billy. Double ew! Laura is as bright as a light bulb that went out in the ’70s, so I need the gal to go home in order to stop losing brain cells every time I watch this show. Laura things that the judges can see who she really is (a Jersey girl with an IQ of 10?) and that’s why she was able to sway them. Sure, OK!
Billy is thrilled to see that it’s Laura that comes back to the house, but Joel thinks that she poses a serious threat for Billy. I can see this. Billy is too caught up with Laura, and it’s going to do him harm in the long run. Joel doesn’t see Laura as a real threat since all she’s going on is her looks. Seriously, the girl has NO personality! While having breakfast, the group hears a zillion honks signaling it’s time to get going. The limo drives them to a salon, where Vanessa is waiting, and tells them they’ll be attending a red carpet affair with a date. The show has selected the dates of course, and they’re comprised of the contestants’ mothers! Awww! Joel is especially touched with seeing his mother, and I have a feeling that he and Julia will be in the final two when it comes to the finale. Billy’s mom can’t make it, so his date is his dad! It’s too cute, really. Vanessa goes on to explain that they’re in the salon to achieve a red carpet look for tonight’s function.
Billy is a little nervous that the stylist is such a queen because his father has no experience with gay folks or something. I’m wondering how this will go, but I’ll bet that Billy, like most kids, is just worrying over nothing. The catch? The stylist (Jordan) is also an actor, and we’ll see how the cast treats other cast members. Jordan is perfect for trying to dig some dirt out of the beautiful people. Billy gets by, and so does Julia, as they both say that right now the playing field is leveled and everyone has a fair chance of winning at this point. After grabbing Joel’s butt, Jordan gets some dirt out of him after Joel says that Billy only has muscles thanks to the 984923 supplements he’s on. Laura also sells out Billy and tells the stylist that while she does flirt with him, she’d definitely throw him under the bus if need be. Yikes!
Now it’s time for the parents to style the kiddos, and Julia is happy with her mom’s pick (a long print maxi dress). Billy’s dad satisfies him, and so does Joel’s. Laura’s mom works with the stylist and picks a dress she isn’t sure of, but Laura ends up loving it, even though it isn’t her usual skimpy getup.
The couples walk the red carpet, and Laura can’t get enough of it. Billy knows how to work the room, and Laura isn’t buying it. Seriously, her cattiness is coming out, but that might play in her favor since we’re getting down to the wire. Joel thinks Laura blends into the crowd, but I think she’s also completely phony. You can tell she has no interest in meeting these people! Joel does OK, but he doesn’t blow me away. I have a feeling that Julia and her mom are going to win the challenge, but Ashton Kutcher’s mother (the secret judge) feels they aren’t sincere.
Now it’s time for the test! A partygoer is having a wardrobe malfunction, and it’s only Julia and her mother that go to the woman’s rescue, pulling the party girl’s dress out from her underwear.
In deliberation, Ashton’s mom liked Joel the best, and that Billy and Julia were trying to “sell themselves.” Vanessa thinks that Laura looked the best, and Nole points out that it’s difficult for Laura to keep a conversation going.
Billy is safe, while Laura and Joel are in the bottom two. That means Julia is safe, and I REEEALLY hope that this means Laura is going home! Here’s hoping that Joel picks on the final challenge at the end. Cheryl Tiegs says that she’s getting tired of Laura playing the sexy kitten card, and I have to agree.
Vanessa asks Laura why she should stay there, and she says that if she goes home, she’s afraid her mother will think it’s her fault. OK, once again, Laura is phony. Joel tells the judges that if he goes back to the house, they’ll see his strong character and what he’s made of. Nole tells Joel that he lacks je ne se quois, that energy that makes people gravitate towards someone. Joel gets to stay in the house (ALRIGHT!) and Laura is ousted.
The hilarious part is when Vanessa tells her that there’s more to the competition than meets the eye. Poor Laura has this clueless look on her face like, OK…what does that mean? ROFL! The footage runs and Laura seems pretty embarrassed on how she’s behaved throughout the competition. Of course, just like a kid, she giggles while embarrassed. Lame. She says she knows she’s not a bad person, and doesn’t understand why she was the one kicked out of the house.
Next week it’s the season finale of True Beauty on ABC, and it seems there’s a wet, naked photoshoot and the bomb is dropped on what the True Beauty competition is really about.
