Much has been made of the Academy’s bizarre nominations this year–and their many glaring omissions. Although everyone in the Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress camps is obviously a talented lady, we’re still left with an extremely conservative group, sartorially speaking. We tried to figure out a dress or two for every woman in question, but of the ten, only four are known for ever taking anything resembling a risk: Rooney Mara, Michelle Williams, Jessica Chastain and Bérénice Bejo. Here are our hopes and predictions for Sunday.
ALSO. Please tell us yours, because this was a bit of a challenge.

Great picks! I’m predicting we’ll be seeing some Valentino red too..
Whatever happens, I need to see someone wear some Gucci Fall ’12.
Other predictions: lots of Marchesa, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, and hopefully some Chanel, Rodarte, and J. Mendel.
“Lots of Marchesa, Armani Privé, Elie Saab”… truth.
Don’t forget Versace, though.
Honestly, I’m just hoping Tilda will be there, despite her (insulting) We Need To Talk About Kevin snub.
If Tilda goes, she needs to wear this: http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/slideshow/F2012RTW-ZPOSEN/?iphoto=32
Best version of this very frequently-done kind of post I’ve seen this year. Glenn Close could, in fact, be this ceremony’s Tilda Swinton in that beautiful gray Haider creation.
Wow. I hope these women’s stylists are as gifted as you.
Meryl Streep is going to be kicking herself if she misses the chance to wear that L’Wren Scott.
Porkchop! You are the nicest. Thank you.
And not one Marchesa in the bunch. Way to stick to your guns.
Melissa McCarthy and that burgundy Gucci would be a match made in demure-but-daring Heaven.
