‘America’s Next Top Model’ Recap
Episode 10.3 "Top Model Makeovers"
Air Date: March 6, 2008
Makeovers are in session!
Show starts with Dominique going off on how great she is, and they wake up to a boatload of free Applebottom goods. Jeans, pumps, and bright white bags are what’s packed up for the girls, so they have some great stuff to look like models in. You know, because models totally wear rapper clothing. The anorexia debate begins between Fatima and Allison, and it doesn’t get too heated.
Next stop is Wal-mart, where the girls meet up Brent and Molly of CoverGirl cosmetics. The challenge is each girl has to create their own makeup look incorporating certain CoverGirl items, which included a foundation, a mascara and lip gloss. I never understand this challenge. The girls don’t necessarily have experience as makeup artists, but whatever it isn’t my show. Claire wins, in all of her awkward glory. She’ll be featured on the Wal-mart website under the CoverGirl section. Woo!
Back at the house, there’s a semi-intimate discussion on why people are there, and Claire feels she and Dominique are there for bigger reasons since they both have children. Now the drama explodes between Fatima and Allison after Allison makes a derogatory comment about African American women. This was definitely crossing the line, and Fatima let Allison have it. Allison felt justified in her comment because of Fatima’s cheap shot about her weight the day before. And here I thought these girls were here to work. What on Earth was I thinking?
When Tyra mail comes do the girls really have to read it out loud all together? Goodness! The girls find out they are in the market for makeovers, so they scream like mad women, and head out of the house. I loved the Fab Cab that the girls rolled over to the salon with. The girls aren’t going to know what hair they’re getting until they have it. What is up with this Tyra-vision. It’s a little annoying and a little offensive, especially when she mocks people’s accents. Rude, much
Aimee gets a severe red color with shaggy bangs and a piece-y cut. Marvita gets the pleasure of a horse ‘do, while Lauren gets lock, textured locks that look like they may bring out the girlishness that lurks somewhere inside of her. Katarzyna goes darker, and I think this was a great move. Claire’s hair goes platinum, and the stylist kicks of the extreme factor by shaving the other side of her head as well. Fatima is injected with long extensions, which she seems to hate. Allison goes dark red, and Stacey-ann gets it chopped with a little poke-y ‘do that reminds me of Bart Simpson.
Dominique goes long, as does Amis, only her hair looks like a freaking wig. It literally looks like a bad wig just sitting on her head; as if it isn’t even on correctly! Fatima continues to whine and moan (although it does look painful), while Allison sits by with a smirk. The end result for Fatima? Unbe-WEAVE-able! Sorry, I had to.
The message from Tyra says the girls should be ready to work with the "The Body," but I guess none of the girls make the connection that Elle MacPherson. The girls will be modeling Elle MacPherson Intimates, MacPherson’s line of bras, panties, slips and other gorgeous under pinnings. Everyone does great, but when we get to Lauren, she can’t seem to see herself as feminine or sexy. Allison comes off as too posed, and Amis has a little trouble twisting her bottom half. Who was that psychotic drunk chick from a past Top Model? Dominique reminds me of that girl. Why does Dominique find herself so high fashion? When Jay calls her commercial, it’s like a shot in the heart, and I couldn’t love it more. She looks like a 40 year old woman!
As the girls go in front of the panel, Amis is up first. Her hair looks far better in the picture than it does in real life. Lauren looks like the Tin Man after Tyra makes her pose. Marvita’s picture is amazing, and the blue in her lingerie is picked up by the bright blue sky. Claire gets the thumbs up, and Fatima’s picture is the spitting image of Iman. Kartarzyna’s photo is a little too Maxim, and Stacy-ann’s picture isn’t reaching her potential. Dominique’s photo wasn’t retouched I guess because there was mad cellulite going on, and Tyra instructed her to bring her bottom away from the camera. Amy’s picture is drop dead with her skin glowing. Allison’s picture is a bit vacant. Whitney’s picture is gorgeous, despite the fact that she’s so incredibly covered up compared to the other girls. Even Tyra made this comment, and she said she spoke with the stylist about covering Whitney’s gorgeous figure.
The photographer hits the nail on the head when he says that when Dominique arrived on the set he thought she was someone’s mother! Ahahahahahahhahahaha! This guy kills me.
After the judges deliberate, Dominique and Allison are in the bottom two. Both are cocky and have a fierce amount of confidence, which isn’t always a good thing. Allison gets the boot, despite her experience, and has a bit of a breakdown during her goodbye with Tyra.
And so Miss Jay rips another name from his military vest!
