So far, the Oscars have been mostly boring. Emma Stone was cute, Christopher Plummer and the hot Conchord won statues, and Angelina Jolie did an absurd thing: while presenting an award for something–who can keep track?–she strolled onto the stage in a clitoris-skimming Atelier Versace, kicked out her leg, put her hand on her hip and offered up a shit-eating grin (as she did above, on the red carpet). We laughed out loud.
What’d you think?
We especially loved when Community‘s Jim Rash took the piss; we’ll get a photo as soon as we’re able.

This is awesome. She looks awesome and she obviously knows it. It’s fun! She knows it’s ridiculous, but she also knows that she looks phenomenal. Stop hating y’all!!
I think she must be surfing the internet reading these comments and dying laughing. It’s what I’d do, anyway. It was clearly a joke people, lighten up! Seriously.
Exactly !!! I think she was kidding. Willing to bet they had a great giggle from it all. The Oscars are too stuffy and pretentious. It’s good to have a laugh.
I thought it was a joke or something. Rash following in kind was absolutely awesome.
That said, I don’t say this very often… but she really does look frighteningly skinny. She needs to get on that…
I don’t care that she’s Angelina, or whether it was a goof on her part or a desperate bid for attention or whatever. What creeped me out was how unhealthily thin she looked. That leg looked like it belonged on Geoff the robot on the Late, Late show.
Maybe she’s mocking Jennifer aniston? I saw a pic of aniston in a dress VERY similar to Jolie’s, but aniston was wayyy serious in her I’m a sex symbol pose.
She is too old to be acting this way, she looked like an idiot.
I just don’t get why everyone is FREAKING OUT over the way she’s standing.
Personally, I feel uncomfortable every time I see photos of this pose.
It’s not sexy.
Instead somewhat ludicrous and oddly threatening.

I think she looks beautiful–I dont get it,, unless they think the Oscars are more demure!! Woman show the producers and directors that they still have it, by dressing this way a lot. She had a beautiful dress on…go on with your bad self, Angelina…peace lol
I’m probably giving her too much credit, but the pose plus the expression made me think she was enjoying being silly: “Look at me, I’m a *pageant grin* MOVIE STAR!” I think she and Brad Pitt have often had their talent (seriously, go watch Girl, Interrupted and tell me that she isn’t a fantastic actress) overshadowed by their MOVIE STAR personae/good looks, so it was kind of a campy moment for me.

God I miss crazy Angelina before she had kids. She was awesome back then. Now I just find her obnoxious. And way too thin. Remember when she was curvy?

First, I didn’t say “Yay Crazy Angie’s back”. I said her stunt was stupid and that I found her obnoxious. I said I missed when she was crazy. I don’t think she was drunk at the Oscars, and I also don’t think she had a mental illness before she adopted/gave birth to all her kids.
That article spouts out all this garbage that has no base in fact, sites nothing, and is basically an opinion piece that should not be used to defend anything unless she/he can prove Angelina’s diagnosis, or having trouble adopting or any of the other random stuff she/he says. It’s on the internet so it must be real!
I think it was funny because Angelina has always had this “I don’t really care,” attitude. She normally seems super aloof. So to see her standing there like a tween attempting to “pose sexy” and get attention was just hysterical.
Honestly, who didn’t pose like that in idiotic pictures with their 10 year old friends? It just looked like she was trying soooo hard.
It was a silly pose and a certainly an uncomfortable moment. I think her stylist should be shot and Versace should apologise.

I didn’t like the dress either for her. Too heavy for her frail frame. Not only did she look as if she was about to saddle a horse, but she was being eaten by The Blob.

I think if Brad had not stepped, completely aside it wouldn’t have drawn as much attention as it did. And it wasn’t intentional on his part, he was just giving her more limelight. Granted if a woman wants to show her leg, she should wear a dress that compliments her legs.

I don’t think people are saying its ridiculous because it showed skin, they’re saying it was ridiculous because it looked uncomfortable/was not a natural way to stand. It was too “look at me” but hey – she just gave the audience what they wanted and I admired the confidence that she has. She doesn’t give a shit (or she gives that impression she could be crying right now about this but I really doubt that).
Sharin, you said it..its not that she showed skin, its that it was uncomfortable, unnatural and borderline desperate, which is not needed for someone like her.
Actually the audience can be heard laughing when she struck the pose and it was noted that she put her leg away after Rash mocked her. So she did not give THAT audience or the general viewing population what they wanted as everyone seems to agree that it was a bit…odd. But I think her overzealous fanatics loved it as they seem to fervently defend her on this site and many others.
