Laura is stuck in graphic tees that are too small for her and frumpy. Laura has had a hard past, and now needs a new look in order to win back the custody of her son, Liam.
Accomplice one is Laura’s sister, Katy, the second is cousin Skylar, and celebrity stylist, Jeff Abrahms, who has worked with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan (sheesh! I wouldn’t want him dressing me!). Katy claims that Laura wears Katy’s own clothes from junior high schoo. The three accomplices are left to their own devices and go through Laura’s clothes to weed out the good, the bad, and the ugly. Laura wears gobs of t-shirts and jeans. The issue is Laura is 25, and needs to dress accordingly to give her the self-confidence she needs. Katy feels that Laura needs the new look to show that she’s made the biggest change of all in her life, despite her cloudy past. Laura’s goal is to gain custody of her son by the time he is in first grade, and an adult look would definitely help her feel empowered to do that.
Discarded are Laura’s corny graphic t-shirts, a paint splattered mini skirt, and jeans that her younger sister wore over five years ago. This is one of the less emotional ransacks I’ve seen on any makeover show, which says that Laura is ready for a change. As well she should be!
Second Chance with Style is the first look the accomplices will have to search for. Stylish Judgement, a sophisticated adult look that says Laura is a great mom and ready to have her son back, and the Wildcard, which is just a look the accomplice feels Laura needs to make her change.
A new twist is that Laura is going to get contacts. An entire year free, so she can look into the judge’s eyes and mean business.
The first accomplice we watch is Katy, who stops by trendy LA shop Lisa Kline. Some of the things she looks at are too old Lisa feels, but we’ll see what makes it back to the showroom. Skylar begins her turn, and Laura doesn’t seem to like any of the things Skylar browses. Up next is Jeff, the celebrity stylist, who stops by Intermix. Poor Laura is confused by tunics and keeps asking, “Is that a shirt or a dress?”
The first collection is somewhat of a hit with Laura, and also has a soft butterscotch hair color and emerald eyes. The second has some color, but is a bit more comfortable for Laura. This collection calls for bronze makeup and side swept bangs. Collection three has a relaxed hoodie, a belted top, and a soft, wispy haircut that would look amazing on Laura. Collection one looks great on Laura, but some of the pieces are a bit too trendy for her, I think. Collection two also fits Laura well, and since these are Katy’s picks, I’m not surprised.
Laura goes with the second collection, and she thinks that Skylar chose it. Laura looks amazing with her deep red hair, side swept bangs, and a fun sun dress. The accomplice was actually Katy, Laura’s own sister. As if this wasn’t sweet enough, Laura’s boyfriend shows up with a Tacori ring and proposes! Ahhh! I was practically standing on the bed cheering!
And she said YES!
Yay! Great style strikes again.
