Instyler reviews

Have you seen the informercial for the InStyler? The rotating barrel promises to give you smooth shiny hair with volume to boot. Good Morning America recently tested several infomercial products and among them was the InStyler. The results? Not so hot. The tester said it was difficult to maneuver the tool, and also took several tries to straighten, not just one smooth swoop as shown in the commercial. You can read tons of reviews online, but here’s a video one YouTube-r decided to post to give us her review of the Instyler.

Have you tried the Instyler? Is it worth the money or a pain to handle? Let us know!

The Instyler was good up until a point where the brush bristles began to mesh down and look worn and burned. IT is an over priced product. The hair bristles need to be heat proof. I have had it for only 9 months and already the bristles are melted and mangled.

this is a great product. i love it. i got it as a present for my birthday and at first it was hard to us but my friend has one and she showed me how to use it. i don’t like how it straightens, but i never straighten my hair so it doesn’t matter. it gives beautiful and naturally looking curls just like taylor swift. i love how it doesn’t burn your hair either. I’ve only have it for a month so i don’t know how long it will last but so far it is definitely worth the cost. i suggest buying one if you want great curls!

I bought the instyler at a retail store. Much cheaper.

I have very curly hair and it frizzes in damp weather.

After using the instyler my hair did not frizz in the rain.

I did not find it difficult to use. With any hot hair styler, you have to be careful not to get burned.

Would you mind to share which retail store did you get it from?

      Thanks

I purchased the InStyler at a store for 99.99$ at a store this past weekend. I was a bit skeptical because I’ve never had a tool that does all it promises. However, I was deeply amazed at how quick this straightener straightens my hair. I have naturally curly, frizzy hair and it took away the dull, dry, damaged look and provided me with shiny, smooth, straight hair. I’m so in love with it! Personally, it didn’t take me that long to get used to it. I watched the DVD and read the manuals. Just like any unfamiliar hair tool, it takes time, practice and patience. Consumers must remember that the demos on TV are done by PROFESSIONALS who have experience using it. Coming from a straightening iron, this is quite the change but definitely worth it! I recommend buying it from a store rather than a website!

Has anyone with nappy hair tried this product? How does it work on nappy hair?

  8. By Sienna

I got the instyler, and i LOVED IT.
    it WORKS.
You guys are complaining about the noise?!?! ITS NOT THAT BAD! COME ONE, NOT EVERY LITTLE THING NEEDS TO BE PERFECT IN THIS WORLD! The noise does not bother me, unless you are someone who gets annoyed VERY VERY VERY easily (as it seems everyone else on this forum is) and for the people who say theirs broke, i suggest not buying it online (even on their real website) and buy it in a real store!

Does the Instyler has a EU Comformity Certificate.
I bought one but was held at the Parcel Post Office in Malta pending release until the submission of this certificate

I think a lot of the people that are complaining about the inStyler simply don’t know how to use it. Watch the DVD and then try playing around with it to get it the way you want . And yes , It does get hot . It can burn you . That’s why you have to be careful . Flat irons and curling irons can burn you too ! And for ladies complaining about how the metal damages your hair , you can just go buy heat protectant spray . And it would also help if you didn’t keep the instyler on your hair so long. Because it’s metal you have to be more cautious . Learn to use it right , And you’ll be fine .

I bought the Instyler a few days ago at Brookstone for $79.99. It was and is on sale and no S&H. It was awkward at first but after watching the DVD a couple of times it did an excellent job.

horrible porduct!!!!never use EVER!!!! cost a lot of money and does nothing!!!!! trust me DONT BUY IT!!!!

    • By Liesel

      Hi Grace,

i totally agree with you . I was just as disappointed . It doesn’t do much except add a little bit of volume. The commercials made it seem ones hair would be like stepping out of a salon .

THE RETAILER IS REFUSING TO REFUND ME !!!!!!!!!!!

I do regret buying the product and now I am stuck with it. I much rather buy a flat iron to do my child’s hair. The Instyler was a big joke to hair products. People I must say if you want to throw your money away then throw it away on this product. You will see the bristles began to clump and mesh together just like a regular hair brush with hot metal rolling over it. It works up to a good point but then the use of it began to fade away. Do not purchase this product. Just go out and buy a good flat iron instead.

I’m in agreement w/ all the chicks who ‘re saying it takes awhile to get the hang of it. I kept using it more like a curling iron and that totally burns your hair. When used properly its pretty cool. I too had the problem of burning my forehead, cuz I was trying to get it close enough to the root – I’m still at a loss as to how to do that; it leaves a kink in my hair there. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned it that the instructions recommend you DONT use any product on your hair first. Um, eeuw? I need product and when I put it oon before, it can sizzle and when applied after using the In Styler, my products wreck the little end curl. Also I wish it was wider, so as to do more hair more quickly. It’s a fun toy, but irritating and too time consuming for everyday. But I definitely still wouldnt return it!!

I don’t know what the rest of you are doing, however, I feel like this is the very first hair tool I have purchased that actually works!!! I have bought everything under the sun over many decades with less than desireable results. I am now 54 and my hair is going through some really radical changes. This makes my hair look as good as when I come out of the salon after a professional blow dry. It will last for 2 days!! Just a little touch up and volumizer on day 2. I was considering the Brazilian Blowout until I read about the adverse effects and the formaldahyde that was in it!! Glad I waited.
Such a joy to find something I love. It takes a little bit of time, however, it is well worth it and not a hassle at all. You can burn yourself on any hair product.
    Great!!

    its crap..dont buy it

I wanted to try the instyler, i have straight, flat and thin hair and its hard to have any volume in my hair. I wanted to get it because it shows how well it creates volume in your hair. but from the looks of all the reviews i wouldn’t want to buy it. It has metal plates and that is way worse on your hair. What a bummer because i wanted to try it out to see if it does what it says it does.

the instyler is bullshittttt.. man i though it would work. the commericials were convincing, but its alll a lie. A GREAT BIG FAT STINKIN LIE!!!!!!!!!!! I WASTED ALOTOF MONEY BUYING IT FOR MY FAMLY TO FIND OUT IT DOESNT EVEN WORK I GO OUTSIDE AFTER USNG IT AND I LOOKNLIKE TROLL. YEAH FUDGE .ITS BULLSHITTTTTT. DONT WASTE UR MONEY. USE A REGULAR STRAIGHTNING, AND CURLING IRON. CUZ INSTYLER IS CRAPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

    • By sofia

oh relax. its a good product. you probably don’t know how to use it

  18. By Danielle

i’ve had a chi for years and i love it but its getting old and i was going to replace it, after seeing all the commercials for the instyler, i decided to give that a try instead. it is much cheaper if you buy it in a store (like bed bath and beyond) but i was very dissapointed when i got it. the first time using it, it burned my ear. it makes an irritating buzzing noise and since the barrel is metal, its much worse for your hair then a straightener with ceramic plates. after just one use of the instyler i noticed my hair looked more dead with split ends and it made my hair frizzy not shiny. i returned it and will most deffinetly be sticking to my chi!

    • By ilce

i’ve allways got a chi, i got like 3 :P but i really want to get this tool, do u really think is that bad?, it’s just so hard for me to get curly hair with an iron i allways loved barrels for curls better…

I’m kind of disappointed. I have naturally curly hair and the instyler works perfectly, but sometimes i like to wear my hair curly and because of the instyler, i’ve lost most of my natural curls.
