REVIEW: NIVEA for Men Active 3

I was sent a bottle of  NIVEA for Men Active 3 to test out, and I dutifully passed it on to my favorite guy to use for a few weeks.  We then compared notes on our respective thoughts about the product.  This 3-in-1 product is a body wash, shampoo, and shave gel.

Here’s what NIVEA has to say about Active 3:

A refreshing shower, a caring shampoo and a pleasant shaving gel all combined in one product. The revitalizing gel with advanced MICRO TEC-Technology (Vitamin F and high tec polymers) offers mild cleansing for body and hair while developing into caring foam that smoothes the skin and allows a soft yet thorough shave.

NIVEA for Men Active 3 Here’s what we have to say about Active 3!

Pro:

  • 3-in-1 products are perfect for guys who don’t want to fuss with a lot of different products that do lots of different things.  That describes most guys that I know.
  • Even if your guys likes using a bunch of different products, Active 3 is great for travel.  Package it up in a smaller container, instead of packing a bunch of other products, and you’ll save precious packing room.
  • Clean, fresh fragrance that’s a guy smell, yet it wears off and doesn’t interfere with cologne.  I liked the fragrance.
  • Used for shaving, it resulted in a close, soft shave, comparable to, if not better than, other shaving products on the market.
  • Used as a shampoo, hair was clean and manageable.

Con:

  • If you’re not used to shaving in the shower, part of the ease of using a 3-in-1 is reduced.  Sure you could keep it my the sink and in the shower, but all of a sudden it’s not as easy and convenient.
  • The bottle and label were smooth, and when it got wet became slippery and hard to grab and hold onto in the shower.  A bit of texturing on the bottle would resolve this annoyance, and eliminate injured toes.  The bottle was slippery merely when wet, but became increasingly slippery once the product was actually on your hands.
  • Used as a body wash, it left skin feeling clean and soft, but a bit more deodorizing properties would have been nice.  That clean feeling didn’t last all day.

So would he buy it? My guy said he’d definitely buy Active 3 for traveling.   He liked the convenience of the product in addition to the product itself.  But as far as for home use, the annoyance of always dropping the bottle factors in heavily.  He likes the product, but doesn’t like the packaging.  Let’s hope Nivea is listening!

NIVEA for MEN Active3 is available at drugstores nationwide.  It retails for $5.99 for 16.9 fl oz. or $4.49 for 8.4 fl oz.

I will have to try Nivea Active 3 out for myself next time I travel. My current system involves filling up sample size bottles left over from my last trip. An all-in-one product like this would be much more compact!
