Superstar Hair Challege: Seeing Double recap part 1

The four stylists each choose a pair of scissors, which have a number on them. Each client is also “numbered,” so they match up to their stylist as such. Personally, if I saw Ceilidh coming at me with a pair of scissors, I would run in the other direction. She looks like an edgy young girl, but then has this soccer mom hairdo sitting on top of her head. Not a good look.

Each client sits at their stylist’s chair and small consultations go into effect. Immediately, the stylists begin to examine their clients’ hair and conversing with the colorists on where they want to go in terms of color. Fabio makes the decision to cut the hair first (odd, but it makes sense once he explains it), as well as style it, and then select where the color will go since this will be the hairstyle the client ends up with. The other stylists take the conventional approach of coloring first. For Manu this is quite a task, as his client has chemically relaxed hair, and while it’s never been colored, it has undergone severe chemicals for much of its life. Reluctant to pour on too much color at once, Manu makes a minor change, which doesn’t end up as drastic as he’d hoped. In fact, you really can’t tell a difference in her color at all, so he is back at square one, and luckily is able to give her hair an additional shot of color before the challenge is over. Host Marc Anthony makes the comment that “you only get once chance in a salon,” but come on! How many people get their hair redone at a salon because they don’t like the intial result? A LOT!

Plus, I’m sure any client (paying or a volunteer model) would much rather have a stylist take it a little at a time, rather than just further damage the hair shaft. Marc Anthony should be commending Manu!

Ceilidh and Anthony are doing well with their clients, but Ceilidh’s is probably pissing her pants. Her hair has been completely chopped off, and turned into this asymmetrical mess. I get it, it’s modern, it’s edgy, blah blah blah. The point is, no one in their right mind wants to be caught dead with that haircut unless it is indeed a wig. What was going through Ceilidh’s mind?!

Anthony’s client is looking OK, but not great. He’s turned her head into this whispy mushroom thing, which I don’t really like. It isn’t flattering to her very round face, and the color looks like something from the late ’90s. Lots of caramel highlights around the face and on thos whispy layers.

Now it’s time for the judges to see what they love, what they hate, and most importantly: decide who is going home.

They decide that Ceilidh has gone to far, and make it clear to her, but in the end, no one goes home! Everyone is safe, but wait…there’s another challenge!
