I have heard of this show, but I never caught it until recently, and like any other Style-Television.com junkie, I’m hooked. What rips me to pieces are these makeover shows that make me cry (so cheesy, I know!) because it really shows us how imperative looking good is in conjunction to FEELING good! What a concept!
I originally saw a billboard for the show with host Carson Kressley of Queer Eye fame, but the BBC version in which the U.S. version is a spin-off of, is what I am hooked to.
Host Gok Wan is completely adorable and sincere in his approach to finding an everyday woman and making her feel like a million bucks by way of makeup and confidence. I really like the way he deals with the women he helps, as he’s compassionate and enthusiastic. On some makeoever shows I feel the hosts are a bit overbearing and the entire makeover comes off as some sort of attack. Not the case here. It shows it’s OK to want to look good and while the process of getting there isn’t always easy, it’s almost always worth it.
