Addie’s style is a mix of vintage-lover and rebellious college student. The problem is, she’s well out of college. She’s on the cusp of getting married and her fiance wants her lookin’ hot (his words, not mine). He has nominated Addie for What Not to Wear. When I first saw Addie I thought she was 30…maybe 32, 34? The gal is 24! Her horrible haircut and frumpy grandma clothes have her looking nearly twice her age! Stacy and Clinton bombard Addie at her fiance’s show in Austin, Texas and let her know that she’s on the show. Addie agrees to the rules, and with a standing ovation (mostly because there aren’t any chairs in this place), she turns herself over to the powers that be.
The dynamic duo goes to the home of the victim, and watch the footage of Addie roaming Austin in her frumpy look. Does anyone else think Addie’s husband is stoned during this entire process?
Going through Addie’s wardrobe, her closet is gutted. Gone are the frumpy t-shirts, long dresses (and we’re not talking stylish maxi dresses either), and grody old shoes. Stacy and Clinton haven’t hit on fit quite yet, but this is something that Addie needs to learn. She has a tiny body and wears clothes that are way too big.
Addie arrives in New York and takes her place in the three way mirror. Alright now I like Addie, but the girl needs help. She’s easily one of the most poorly dressed people I’ve ever seen on this show, and that’s saying a lot. After wearing a dress that resembles an apron, and a skirt that is literally made out of a tablecloth, Addie begins to get the picture. Stacy and Clinton show her other options like a jersey print dress, a halter and jeans, and a cute blouse. All suggestions that are far more stylish, but still easy for an energetic, new mom like Addie.
Addie hits the pavement to go shopping on her own, trying to incorporate a few of the rules. I don’t think Stacy and Clinton gave her as much knowledge from the get-go as they do with some clients. During the shopping trip Addie picks pieces that are sort of similar to what she already owned. These ’70s prints are not going anywhere it seems, so Stacy and Clinton go shopping with her. They want to help her find the rock ‘n roll element in her look, as well as a dress suitable for the upcoming engagement party. A slightly flowy top, a black satin jacket, jeans, and tall leather boots turn Abbie into the cutest groupie of all time. The key here is to find a top that breathes, but still works when layered for that nonchalant vibe. For the engagement party, they put her in a black dress with a dramatic collar and knee length hem. A large necklace and a mesh clutch top off the look to create a feminine look that says romance without being cheesy or too girlie.
Now it’s time for hair and makeup. For hair, her hair is lightened a few shades to match her spunky personality. A quick cut and a hit with the diffuser creates soft curls that look clean and manageable. No frizz here! For makeup, a soft, smoky eye is created using only two shades of eye shadow. A highlighter in the inner eye and on the top, with a dark shade on the outer edge of the lid to create a gradient look. A neutral gloss keeps Addie’s lips from competing with her dark eyes.
Addie steps out in style clad in black with a bright yellow clutch. Perfect for hitting her fiance’s rock shows and playing the part of the rocker girl. The second look is hideous. For some reason they’ve straightened her hair (it makes her look like a soccer mom…not that there’s anything wrong with that, we just don’t want to LOOK like one!) and she’s in all beige. As my boyfriend would say, “Too beige!” Bland and boring describe this second look, and Addie has a great personality that doesn’t match up. The third look has a retro vibe to it, but the print is a little much. It isn’t cool enough for Addie and looks like a curtain that has been made into a dress. I love the shape, but not the print. Of course I’m not the one wearing it, so as long as Addie feels fab, that’s what counts!
At the engagement party, Addie’s friends and family are floored with her stunning new look. Ian and their baby are there to greet her along with their loved ones, and they all cheer her new look. Addie feels her time with Stacy and Clinton has taught her to have a more discerning eye for fashion, and it shows!

although, i will say, i’m very glad they didn’t knock the skinny jeans she wore with her first outfit.
skinny jeans are a big part of the “indie scene” (at least where i’m from), and stacey and clinton don’t usually go for those.
personally, i think she would have turned out a lot better if stacey and clinton had any idea about what the “indie scene” actually is.
it was evident from the beginning of the show that they really had no idea. yes, she needed some help, but i’m afraid her new look was a little too much like something stacey and clinton would wear. some of the outfits really fit her personality. others, not so much.
and for the record, i really liked her skirt. (yes, the one made out of a tablecloth) with a different shirt and a new pair of shoes it could have been very cute. very “indie”.
BAHAHAHAHHAHAA!
It WAS like “Orphan Annie!” OMG, you’re dead on!
OOps!! I called her Abbie. Sorry ADDIE.
I think Abbie looked a thousand times better I still think she looked a little dated. Her “intended” was definately on something or has already had toooo much.Abbie’s hairstyle needed to more modern!! I have naturaly curly hair and KNOW you Can wear a more updated look than “Orphan Annie”.. Good Show!! Need to teach these young ladies that there is shape wear to go under these expensive new clothes. No matter size2 or 20 !!!!!!
