Karl Lagerfeld announced during Paris Fashion Week that Claudia Schiffer would be the new face of Chanel. I think Claudia is a total babe and everything, but I find it really interested that she should be the “new” face of anything. She has been famous, after all since I was in puberty, so her face isn’t exactly new.
Here they are together on the street in Buenos Aires. They were there for a Chanel shoot. God, I would love to be the third musketeer here. Oh, and check Claudia’s totally rad boots. Is this get-up totally grunge-tastic or what? I mean, are you thinking Perry Ellis circa Marc jacobs with the black boots and plaid dress, or is it just me?
Here’s Karl getting all hands on. This man has been in charge of Chanel for like twenty years and he still has his finger in every pie imaginable. In the past month, I have seen editorials that he styled, editorials that he photographed, articles that he illustrated, and articles that he wrote. Can you say “branding genius”? Can you say “possible market overload”?
I’m rethinking the boots, now. They toes are a little oddly shaped. But maybe it’s just Ms. Schiffer’s pensive expression that’s making me think?
