Could there be a 'Desperate Housewives' spinoff?

E!’s Ted Casablanca is reporting that there’s been some buzz about a ‘wives spinoff — and Kathryn Joosten (Mrs. McCluskey) is rumored to be one of the people studio execs are considering for the new show. She’d be starring with Lily Tomlin, and presumably they’d start their own the old-lady P.I. biz?

Although I love watching these two on the show, I can’t really seen them hacking it for their own series. The No. 1 reason? (Don’t get mad, sista’s just statin’ facks): They’re not hot. Entertaining, yes. But spinoffs seem to be all the rage these days. Would you watch a DH spinoff? Who would you pick for it?

I would probably watch the spinoff at first but doubt it would stay with me.

I hope that Kathryn Joosten is promoted to main cast next year. She has been on a lot this season, which is a good thing! We all love McClusky!

I know what I said before, but the more I think about it, the more I know it would fail ratings-wise. :(

I would definitely watch a Karen and Roberta McCluskey spin-off if it is a P.I. show.
If the character are cool enough and the story is interesting and funny then it doesn’t matter how hot the characters are. If the spin-off has the same edge that DH has, then I know it would be wicked.

Mrs McClusky is the best part of the show. By far my favorite resident on Wisteria lane! So many great one liners so perfectly exectued. My only concern is that Marc Cherry will go through a patch of not having a big enough body count in a season and kill her off, which would be such a shame.

I would certainly tune in for a spin off like this. Funny thing is Marc Cherry stole my idea. I had a idea of starting my own little series years back called the ‘Mrs McClusky Mysteries’ but never got very far with it. I would certainly tune in to see this old fabulous gal kick some butt.

very bizarre coincidence. Today I was looking on youtube and I stumbled upon a what seemed to be old MadTV skitt of Desperate Housewives. They were making fun of unmovable botox faces. Not funny, MadTV never really was.

Then I chose to watch last sunday’s episode again for the sake of it and then it stroke me. MadTV wasn’t all wrong… the only actress who’s eyebrow and forehead have motions is Kathryn Joosten… I’m not kidding. Marcia Cross’s face just won’t move even in a sad scene like the one with her husbdan in prison :S

Don’t get me wrong, I love Desperate Housewives but I know see that the botox face joke is real…. Give me a face that moves, even if its wrinkled like Miss McClusky…

Hmmm. I’d watch! I love Lily Tomlin. A couple of drunken women doing PI work? THAT’S television! ;-)

p.s. Sad news about one of Marc Cherry’s old ‘Girls’ today: Bea Arthur has passed on.

This is a sad day. :-(
