The Danish royals began their 9-day visit to Vietnam yesterday, with a ride on bicycle taxis and a stop at the house where Prince Henrik spent the early years of his childhood.
Prince Henrik seemed excited to go back to his old family home in the Phan Dinh Phung district. His family had lived there for several generations, leaving in 1954. He gave Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary a tour of his childhood home and fondly recalled stories of his life there. Hello Magazine has the story of Prince Henrikās early years in Vietnam.
After their visit to the house, the royal family took a ride on cyclos and toured the ancient quarter of Hanoi.
In the evening, the Danish royals visited the Danish ambassador to Vietnam, Peter Lysholt Hansen.
The official visit will include cultural activities and development assistance projects to enhance diplomatic relationships between the two countries. There will more photos coming so stay tuned!
