Prince Joachim was in Russia for a five-day tour of the country with his wife Princess Marie. The visit was aimed at promoting closer cultural and economic ties between Denmark and Russia. Their tour included a Danish furniture shop in Moscow and an exhibit of the life of the Empress Maria Feodorovna, who was born a princess of Denmark.
Prince Joachim and Princess Marie got married in May 2008, and are expecting their first child together. Prince Joachim has two children from his previous marriage to then Princess Alexandra, now Countess of Frederiksborg.
