That sounds like a shocking amount of money, but I sorta expected it to be higher? TV Guide reported that the ladies are third to “House”’s Hugh Laurie, who rakes in $400,000 per episode. But the highest-paid actor is Kiefer Sutherland, who gets $550,000 for each episode of “24.”
I’ll gladly shoot just one episode for them. Just one. And I’d be set for……more than 10 years. Jus’ sayin’…..

i was going to say what exaclly the two comments before mine said ! let me answer that for you ! for its first year deperate housewives shot 23 episodes, 24 for its second year, 23 for its thid, and only 17 for its fourth year… 24 episodes for the fifth year, so i guess they do have a lot of money ! and paula abdul ???? she’s so far ! besides, she’s older ! i mean she started early !
comment 2 : i was also going to mention that firends earned $1million by its 10th season ! let me just say ! cast of friends earned only $100 000 in each episode during its fifth season ( 1998/1999 ) !DH earns 295 000 more ! may be desperate housewives if the pay keep getting bigger will earn more than a million by episode ! even if there wont be 10 seaons ( i hope not ) i agree with you about DH cast should get more ! and i think they will
one last thing ! me and you are the same ! i am addicted to both dh and friends in a way no one can imagine ! and i always tought DESPEARET HOUSEWIVES is kinda a second FRIENDS (some how ) i dont know why ! but it is in a way ! sorry for my english ! i havn’t been living in usa all my life !
I guess what I’m curious about is how much the second tier of recurring and guest role actors make. I’ve heard a lot lately about how things have become much worse for the average, non A-list actor, to the extent that names you would recognise from tv are moonlighting as security guards to make ends meet. Much as I love House and appreciate Hugh Laurie’s talent, 400k an episode while most of his colleagues are probably getting scale? Something is wrong with that system.
By the end of the ten season run of FRIENDS, all the main cast members each earned $1MIL per episode! I used to be a FRIENDS fanatic, but now I’m more addicted to Desperate Housewives. My point being if FRIENDS can earn THAT much, so can Desperate Housewives!
And they do how many episodes a year??
That adds up to a lot of money. Maybe Paula Abdul… never mind.
