Golden Globes passes over Desperate Housewives

I saw the Golden Globes nomination list when it was released a few days ago, and didn’t really have any feelings one way or another about Desperate Housewives’ absence from it….that is, until I started thinking more about it.

And then I got angry.

So I did what I usually do when I get so infuriated I wanna scream obsenities out my window: I wrote a letter I never intend to send!

Dear Hollywood Foreign Press Association,

Why’d you snub the ‘wives? You like new things. You like different. You like risky — yet effective — work. Desperate Housewives Season 5 is all of those things.

So, dear HFPAfolk, why the brush-off?

The HFPA itself (according to its site) was born out of a buncha American journalists overseas during WWII, who were looking for movies (television came around in the ’50s) “offering escape, inspiration and entertainment.”

I’d call jumping five years into the future in a risky television move something that offers “escape, inspiration and entertainment.”

So, I implore you again, Mr. HFPApants, if that IS your real name: Where’s the Desperate Housewive nom? I’m only asking for one.

Apparently, cable shows caught your eye this year, but you obviously weren’t watching closely enough.

And what’s with Sally Field from Brothers and Sisters getting a nod for best actress in a drama series? Has no one been watching Felicity Huffman for the past two seasons??

I expect more next year!!

Sincerely, much love to my hatas, xoxo,

Amy
