“Desperate Housewives”: “Boom Crunch”
Original air date: Dec. 6, 2009
liveblog/recap
So I’m sitting here, waiting for the show to start, waiting for Erin and (Not)Neighbor Peggy to come over after pilates, waiting to find out who dies, and I must say….for all this waiting I’m doing for something I’m pretty ungodly excited about, I’m being pretty patient. It’s just when Ty Pennington welcomes a new family home that I start to get super fidgety and A.D.D. and will continue to be that way until I hear Mary Alice’s voice.
Anyway, so everyone’s here, we’re pumped and ready and all of the stuff we should be (and you should follow along with me live here!), so let’s get this thing started, yes?
And we’re definitely getting a list of winners and losers out of this one, so let me know your nominations!!
8:57: Hellooooo Desperate Housewives fans! Are you guys as excited as I am? Because…that’s probably not possible.
9:01: OMGOMGOMGOMG The previously on is on! That means the show is coming!!
9:02: I was just about to whine about how I hate new random characters. But they’re going to die. So I don’t have to care about these people.
9:03: This argument is going on too long. Just crash. We’ve been waiting for far too long for this episode for THIS.
9:04: Heart attack on a plane? Is this “Hatchet”??
9:04: Santa’s colon? Oh, Lynette. You’re hilarious.
9:06: Is it just me, or is everyone the prettiest they’ve ever looked? Lee included.
9:07: Katherine points at Mike from the stretcher. Awesome.
9:09: Ah, Mona. Guessing that they’re in the witness protection program. They say yes, I say no?
9:10: Ahh, the nervous laughter of someone who probably wasn’t kidding about having someone else wacked.
9:10: “Forgive me for starting your day on a sour note, but I’ve filed for divorce.” — Bree. Sour? Understatement of the year?
9:11: I just asked Erin/Peggy if we believed Orson was bluffing? Erin: “No.” Peggy: “Nope.”
9:12: This is kind of sad. I almost feel bad for Orson?
9:12: I love how Bob is the lawyer du jour on the series. Got a case? Bob’ll take it!
9:14: Watching Susan trying to play nice with Katherine in the hospital is almost painful!
9:15: I do love that Katherine has gone from mostly sane, to outright crazy, to this — quietly psychotic. Totally, totally off the deep end.
9:16: Dylan Mayfair! Yes!
9:19: Commercial break! I need to go grab my chestnuts, which have been roasting on an open toaster oven.
9:20: Aww, Penny! Who knew you were still alive? I love seeing the MIA Desperate Kids.
9:21: I have no sympathy for Carlos. None. None at all.
9:22: And Gaby slams the door in Lynette’s face when Lynette tried to apologize. Just like that.
9:23: I DO have sympathy for Orson. Why is that? I’ve never had much of anything for him…
9:24: And Karl’s the one who hired the plane to fly over the party…. there’s that?
9:24: And Karl gave the pilot his card! Yes!
9:29: Mmmm….Dylan looks good.
9:30: WHOA. THIS IS FANTASTIC. Katherine told Dylan that she’s married to Mike. How many more ways can I call her crazy?
9:31: There are a lot of crazy women on this show. Peggy comments that the men aren’t really that stable either.
9:36: Mona…blackmailing. Not a good idea, lady.
9:38: “Did you stab yourself? Mom, did you?” — Dylan
9:40: “I asked you not to come.” — Katherine, with a glazed look on her face after she’s taken down by several nurses. Man. I wonder if we’re going to start seeing less and less of Dana Delany?
9:45: I love that we’re catching little bits of the Bicks couple and their flight throughout this episode.
9:46: I know this is a DH thing, but why are Lynette and Gaby being so ungodly immature and light-hearted about this lawsuit?
9:46: (even though Lynette’s hat IS surprisingly erect and in Gaby’s way.)
9:54: Wonder where that banner is going to land?
9:56: Orson and Karl in Santa’s house. Fighting. With candy canes. Is this what Jesus had in mind?
9:57: “Just because I have lawn gnomes doesn’t mean I’m stupid.” — Mona. No, but it obviously means you’re a horrible person.
9:58: Erin’s calling it — the plane’s going to land on Santa’s house.
9:59: “….and that was 18 years ago and we’ve been looking over our shoulder ever since.” — Angie. What?? That’s all we get??
10:00: Whoa. That’s it? And we’re not going to see who dies?
10:01: I think….I think I’m angry. That plane scene was quite possibly the worst special effects I’ve ever seen.
10:04: This is a TV show, so the effects aren’t going to be as awesome as a movie, but Lost? Heroes? Can’t we take some pointers from one of those?
10:04: Peggy said the bloody hand looks feminine….I’m not sure if she was implying Orson or Bree with that.

Did anyone notice that Mona had a Santa had on? And that she took it off right before she said “Just because I have lawn gnomes doesn’t mean I’m stupid.”..Then the hat vanishes as she walks away and Angie says “Mona, can we talk about this”..hm..where is that hat Mona?? and, where did Angies wedding ring go? It wasn’t on the envelope..I think that they will find it either on Mona’s hand or her pocket, leading to the police or one of the neighbors to question Angie..
they do revel a big part of the mystery every year by mid season ! angie’s was about her and her family runing away from something for 18 years !
i don’t think it’s a mistake, i think it gives us a new question to wonder about !!! IT’S LIKE WE’VE GOT THE ANSWER FOR A QUESTION AND WE’VE GOT A SECOND QUESTION !
I don’t really remember what happened to the ring but they show Mona drop the money as her body is sucked away from it by the wing of the plane. I think that scene was added specificallly to show that Angie will get it and be safe. But I mean come one! Did anyone honestly think Mona would get away with any of this? Angies secret cant be out already. Its only episode TEN for goodness sakes. Her secret won’t come out until the season finale! Where has everyone been the last five seasons?
What about the money that Angie gave Mona and her ring? When the police investigate … won’t they be suspicious about that? The ring will lead to Angie. UNLESS Angie retrieves the money right away but yuckkk.
This go through anyone elses mind?
“Carlos and Gabrielle – these two are childish and ridiculous, they should had put themselves in the Scavos’ shoes, not to mention that in this episode Lynette offered to take Celia to see Santa Claus because she knows the kid isn’t to blame, but Penny also isn’t to blame and yet in the previous episode the Solises refused to attend her Christmas pageant, which just goes to show how awful they are;”
I totally agree with you RenatoB. Just like Lynette said, they don’t care about anyone but themselves.
Gaby at the end was heartbreaking- and so was Katherine. Those were the 2 highlights of the episode for me.
Lynette being in her 5th month already means if Carlos wasn’t playing fast and loose with the law in not promoting the first pregnant woman Carlos would have had about 6 months notice regarding Lynette’s pregnancy. Much more than required by law professionally to give an employer ample notice to temporarally fill your spot when you take maternity leave.
I agree that Gaby will ‘forgive’ Lynette (with her saving Celia and all and the fact she’ll likely lose a baby or the babies because of that), but that whole idea really bothers me. Why does Lynette have to be forgiven in the first place? It should be vice versa. I’d almost like to see Lynette tell Gaby to take her forgiveness and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.
@Jamie: Lynette is in her 4th or 5th month, since Tom said they have only enough money for 4 months. Than Lynette said that the money will be gone right at the time of twins birth.
@Timmeh!, I think those pictures are of the set of “The War of the Worlds”.
Ok, so I was looking around for pictures of the plane crash, and I continue to find those of a massively large plane (much larger than the one in episode) that is completely tore up, and images of destroyed houses. The plane in the actual episode looked nothing like that in the pictures, and the only house it should have hit, if at all would be Gaby’s. So what happened to the original plane crash that seemed MUCH more destructive, and where did these pics come from?

okay amy ! why do you and some people keep saying that the plane crash scene was lousy ! it’s not a big plane ! it’s a small one ! that you can hire to propose ! am so tired of saying this !
i loved the whole damn episode ! from the begining to its ending ! i was only a little disappointed because i wanted the plane to crash when it’s night ! where there is christmas lights and people partying ! i also wanted it to crash earlier so we could have more disaster scenes ! when i first knew about the plane i toght it was a big one, then i saw this small plane in the preview, but now i know why it’s small ! it’s because it’s plane you can hire to propose or something ! i just wanted it to crash when it’s dark ! and everybody sees the proposal decorated with light and hearts ! all shocked and suprised but then they become more suprised to see the plane flying low !
winners : -susan, to be honest i loved her since the pilot, even tough when she was as you people say annoying ! besides she was such a great person during “Boom Crunch” and funny too
-orson, he was such a gentleman with bree, and he wasn’t so violant with karl, i felt so sad for him when he told bree that her pie or whatever that things she made is delicious ! and that he will miss it !
-lynette, so brave to come back for celia who by the way was so cute and i loved her, i almost cried when gaby screamed : celiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !
looooosers : -mona ! she knew angie had a hard 18 years, even tough, she blackmailed her !!!
-katherine : just for MJ kathy please leave the delifinos alone ! and don’t make me want to wish wayne comes back from the death !
-okaay , cannot find any ! i love every body even kathy
Oh my gosh I think you guys have it all wrong! Okay, so yeah it would be an obvious ploy to just go ahead and kill of Karl, but wouldn’t it be more dramatic to kill of Orson? I figure that Orson will end up dead, Bree will feel guilty and regret the way she treated him, Karl will then attempt a proposal, but Bree will end up turning him down and breaking it off. I also feel like lynette will lose either one or both of the twins. I also have a feeling that Katherine will escape and kidnap MJ. I’m actually really disappointed in this season. All of the stories are like one big repeat of everything that’s already been done. Come on Marc Cherry! Give us some of that good old Wisteria Lane Magic!
Oh there it is. Never mind.
