'Desperate Housewives' up for...two...Emmys (??)

image3

I know “Desperate Housewives” has become sorta the joke of the Emmys as being the show that always gets the obvious nominations each year.

Hopefully that joke ends this year because the show’s only up for two this year. Yes, you heard me right. And the noms are a bit random:

Outstanding Hairstyling For A Single-Camera Series and Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series for Beau Bridges as Eli Boggs.

Both of these are for the 100th episode “The Best Thing That Ever Could Have Happened”

I don’t even know what was outstanding about the hair in this episode (versus any of the others??), but I’m angry about this! Beau was great in the guest appearance and deserved the nomination…but what about the other ‘wives?? The show as a whole??? Was I watching the same show this past season as the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences??

I don’t care about the Emmys anymore, they pull this crap any year.

Well, about DHemmys, in my opinion, Best Actress this season would be Eva Longoria Parker and Best Actor Doug Savant (the only one whose acting didn’t disappoint at one time or another during the season). Best Supporting Actress Nicollette Sheridan, but since there are Supporting awards, there shouldn’t be Best Actor, as every male role on this show is Supporting. But hey, we’ll leave Supporting for even minor roles. So Supporting Actor in my book is maybe Charlie Carver. Best Female Guest Star would either be Lily Tomlin, Kathryn Joosten (who perhaps should be nominated for Supporting Actress though she’s billed as a guest) or Frances Conroy. Best Male Guest Star, Richard Burgi. Best Episode and Most Creative Episode, the 100th, “The Best Thing That Ever Could Have Happened”; Most Elaborate Episode, “City on Fire”; Best Child Star, Male: Mason Vale Cotton; Best Child Star, Female: Madison De La Garza. Best Dressed, Marcia Cross. Best Make-Up, Eva Longoria Parker. Best Villain, clearly Neal McDonough (not that there were many choices). Best Direction, “Mirror, Mirror”. Best Scriptwriting, “The Best Thing That Ever Could Have Happened”. These DHemmys are fun! Maybe they should really be done.

I, too, am upset. Amy: You and I will start our own [imaginary] awards show. The DHemmys. (How do we pronounce this? Hmmm…) You will host. I will be the awkward reader of the winners. Let’s get our nominations in order here. Perhaps one of us could form a quiz over on Facebook?

Categories are as follows, and please feel free to add more, at your whim:

How does a show that averages less than HALF the ratings as DH get 20 nominations? I mean, come on! 30 Rock isn’t that good of show, in my opinion, but critics are in love with it. Fans are still flocking to DH, even after it made a very risky move! Neal McDonough deserves an emmy nomination for this past season, as does Nicollette Sheridan. I’m ticked beyond belief!

From now on, I’m saying…SCREW the Emmy’s! I love this show either way. I think Terri Hatcher or Neal McDonough should have been nominated this year. He especially did a great job acting as Dave last season. But like I said…screw them. =]
