Norway's Princess Mette-Marit Injured during Ukraine Visit
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway was on an official 3-day visit to the Ukraine when she fell and sustained an injury to her head.
The princess arrived in Kiev on Monday, October 20, 2008 as a special representative of UNAIDS. During a meeting at the All-Ukrainian Network, she tripped and suffered a concussion. She had been advised by doctors to rest for two days, which meant that her engagements in the Ukraine were effectively canceled.
The princess was due to meet with government officials, various youth and volunteer organizations, and AIDS patients. She is accompanied by the director of UNAIDS in Geneva, Peter Piot.
Princess Mette-Marit may still be able to attend her meetings for Wednesday, before she is scheduled to return to Norway.
