Prince Harry launched the Khumbu Challenge 09 yesterday, November 4, 2008, at the Devonport Naval Base in Plymouth.
The Khumbu Challenge 09 is an adventure challenge for British military personnel who have been wounded in battle. Participants to the expedition will aim to climb to Mt. Everest’s base camp.
The Ministry of Defence said places on the challenge will be offered to individuals injured in conflict to give them an opportunity to “enhance their rehabilitation programmes” and put them back in a military environment.
