The Christmas Seal, as it is called, has a tradition that goes back 100 years. The design was created by artist Birgitte Els-Schleuder. In addition to postage stamps, it will also be used in pins, cards and future re-issues. Money raised from these sales are used in four Christmas Seal houses. Princess Mary is the patron of the Christmas Seal Foundation, which manages the houses.
