Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip kept up with the latest in popular entertainment at last Tuesday’s Royal Variety Show. The annual show brings together performances from the film and music industry. This year, it was held in Blackpool, England, the first time in the town since 1955.
Among this year’s Royal Variety performers were Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Buble, Katherine Jenkins, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga.
I always like to see Queen Elizabeth at the Variety Show. I like to think it helps her keep in touch, and that it’s not all Beethoven and Bach for the British royal family.

Deirdre, the shade of the gown is different in the last two photos so maybe it’s not black. It’s hard to tell.
I am surprised to see the Queen wearing black – I thought she never wears black unless she is in mourning. Perhaps the dress is dark blue. These photos are lovely clearly indicating the delight of the stars in meeting Her Majesty – who remains, as always, gracious and lovely.
