It was another episode that seemed a little lacking to me. This season just seems to be missing something. Is it just me? What do you all think about season 5 of Desperate Housewives?
There were some good lines in this episode that made me laugh, but I think the major drama is missing.
Here’s my recap for episode 5.2 “We’re So Happy You’re So Happy”:
Susan, Mike and Jackson:
The show opened up with Jackson getting the paper in his robe. A very short robe. Jackson looks up and there’s Mike. They meet for the first time. Everything seems to go well. Susan looks out her window and freaks because they are meeting.
Jackson realizes he needs to be more careful and then he turns around and there’s MJ. So all of Susan’s men in her life have met. It’s good to get that out of the way.
Mike tells Susan he wants to do a little checking up on Jackson because he is sleeping in the same house as his son, MJ. Susan doesn’t want him to do that but then he reminds her how nice he was with the whole custody thing. So, Jackson and Mike plan a little date, lol. Susan is helping Jackson pick out what he’s going to wear on his date because Susan wants him to look just right and sound just right so Mike will like him.
The guys go out and they end up having a great time together and plan on getting together again. Susan is okay with that until she finds out that Mike told Jackson about the ear lobe nibbling thing. Yes, one of Susan’s turn-ons is to have her ear lobes nibbled on. This freaks her out and she doesn’t want Mike and Jackson spending anymore time together.
Jackson cancels dinner on Susan and she thinks he’s at the bar with Mike. She heads over there and then finds out that he’s not. Jackson canceled on Mike too. Susan tells Mike that the reason she doesn’t want them to spend time together is that she’s afraid Jackson will see Susan through Mike’s eyes and she said that she wasn’t very nice to him at the end of their marriage. They have a little bonding moment where Mike tells her he does think a lot about her. You could tell that meant a lot to Susan and Mike has this look on his face like maybe he is missing her.
Susan goes home to tell Jackson it’s okay that he spends time with Mike and thinks that it’s great. Then, she hears her other ex husbands voice. He comes into the kitchen and said that he met granola boy and that maybe if he was a roofer, him and Susan would have stayed together. What a jerk.
Jackson asked if there are any other exes he needs to meet.
Dave and Edie:
Edie comes home and tells Dave that she is miserable and wants to leave Wisteria Lane. Mrs. McCluskey made some rude comment about her breasts and Edie says that she has changed in the last 5 years, but no one seems to notice.
Dave starts using his “motivational voice: and tells her that they will start respecting her. She keeps pressing him for why they had to move to Wisteria Lane of all places and he won’t answer her question.
Dave makes a visit to Mrs. McCluskey to tell her she hurt Edie’s feelings and needs to apologize. She tries telling him that’s how her and Edie have always been. They have always insulted each other. Mrs. McCluskey makes comments about how easy Edie is and Edie says her face looks like a knee, lol. Dave then goes on to tell Mrs. McClsukey that he knows a lot about her and that she is lonely. The whole time he is doing this he is holding her cat and saying how sad it would be if she lost someone close to her. Yes, he is threatening her in his nice way.
Mrs. McCluskey can not find her cat. Her cat is missing and she is looking every where. She runs into Dave who says that if she’ll apologize to Edie, he will help her find her cat. She agrees and apologizes to Edie who looks totally shocked. Mrs. McCluskey asked is she would please tell Dave that she came by and what was said. Edie said she would.
Mrs. McCluskey comes home and there is her cat Tobey. Conveniently back in her house after she apologized to Edie. She knows something is up and brings Katherine some flowers. Katherine asks why the flowers and Mrs. McCluskey says because Katherine has a computer and she needs to look up Edie’s new husband Dave.
Gaby and Carlos:
Gaby checks the mail and her and Carlos were invited to a party. She is totally excited and walks in the house to tell Carlos and there’s a naked man with one testicle getting a massage. lol
Gaby wants Carlos to take the job at the country club and he says he like spending time at home because he gets to spend more time with Gaby and the girls. She says she doesn’t want to spend more time with him and that the girls are so over it too. Nice. Carlos agrees to take the job.
Bree, who is catering the party that Gaby was invited to, goes over to Gaby’s house and tells her she is uninvited because Carlos now works at the club and he is considered staff. What stuck ups. Gaby agrees not to go, although she’s not happy about it.
Gaby decides that her and Carlos are going to that party no matter what and they sneak in the back through the kitchen. Carlos is clueless because, well, he can’t see remember? They run into Bree in the kitchen and she asked what Gaby is doing there. She says “you were uninvited remember?”. Gaby says that she has a plan and she will make sure they are seen by all the right people and will sneak back out after that.
Bree finds them sitting at a table, which is someone else’s spot, and she pulls Gaby aside and tells her she has to leave. As they peek back into the party, they see that Carlos is getting kicked out because he is not on the invite list. He is calling for Gaby and she runs!
Next thing we know, they are in their car and Gaby is talking about how happy all those rich people are. She says she lost money, her figure and her social standing and she wants to be like those people again. Carlos says that they actually aren’t happy, the rich people. He rubs them all day and all they do is complain about their lives. He said that he and Gaby actually have everything they need. They have each other and their two girls. He says he has never been happier in all his life.
Bree and Orson:
Bree is taking a look at her cookbook cover and Orson makes the comment about why she had to use the Van de Kamp name. Bree said that at the time of the writing, they weren’t together so she used her old name. She also said that Hodge sounds like the sound a plunger makes and that Van de Kamp just sounds better. He’s not happy about that.
Bree is doing her first radio show and she is really nervous. The lady interviewing her has her own cookbook and is well known in the cooking industry. She ask Bree why she did the cook book on hometown cooking and she said that she thinks families should spend time around the table at dinner. As she is saying this, we see Orson sitting at home alone eating take out Chinese food. She is too busy for him.
Bree never mentioned Orson on the radio show and he is hurt. She was asked if there was a Mr. Van de Kamp and she said no. He thinks it’s because he was in jail and she’s embarrassed by that. He’s trying to talk to her about this and all she can do is talk about the party she is catering. She is stressed and over whelmed.
Bree comes home late one night, around midnight, and Orson is just sitting there all alone at the table. She asked what he is doing and he said he’s hungry and that she promised him she would cook him a roast. It was midnight and no roast. She says she lost track of time and she’ll make it up to him. He says no, that he wants his roast now. She looks shocked but he is not backing down. She goes into the kitchen and starts cooking. As she is chopping and getting things ready she is crying. Bree can’t juggle it all and it’s affecting her relationship with Orson.
Lynette and Porter:
Lynette is worried about who Porter is hanging out with because one of his friend was busted for drugs. She confronts Porter about it and he said they don’t even hang out anymore.
Lynette goes into Parker’s room and asks if he knows if Porter is hanging out with this kid. He says he doesn’t know, but he knows how to find out. It’s a site called Silver Fizz (MySpace like) and he is giving Lynette the inns and outs of the site.
So, Lynette decides to create an account and pose as a girl. She becomes very close to Porter while just trying to find out who he’s hanging out with. They end up chatting back and forth and he shares that he writes poetry. He sends her a poem and it’s a sex poem. Lynette realizes he’s in love with her and that she needs to end the relationship and writes a “Dear John” letter to break up with him. Tom reads it over and sees that she signed it “Love, Mom”. She had already sent it to him.
Porter comes down stairs and hands her his poetry book. He is crushed. Lynette tries to go and talk to him and explain that she misses him. She said they used to talk all the time and then one day it just stopped. Porter won’t even look at him and Lynette says that she is going to miss their conversations. As she is walking off, he whispers “Me too”.
That’s a wrap! Tune in next week for live blogging and recapping of episode 5.3.
