We’re all used to the fashion industry being defined by stick thin models with eating disorders and cocaine addictions. We’ve been conditioned to accept that plus sized models on the runway or in fashion spreads are unusual and not accepted. Even Tyra Banks ( a curvy woman) has sent many a model packing because they were not thin enough. With that said things are changing and curves are in.
Terry Richardson has teamed up with V Magazine to shatter these stereotypes and do a shoot called ‘One Size Fits All’ featured in the Size Issue available January 14th. Two models who look very similar have been dressed in the same outfits, the only difference is that one model is the more accepted ’size’ while the other, Crystal Renn, is a ‘plus sized’ model who is making a ‘big’ impact on the industry.

Crystal Renn is making a name for herself and changing the perception of size. She has walked the runways of Jean-Paul Gaultier and been on the cover of American Vogue. Both models stand side by side wearing the same outfits and with the same results: they both look stunning. It’s a powerful spread because it’s challenging the status quo of the industry and the public’s perception of beauty.
Crystal also published a book in the Fall entitled ‘Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition, and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves’ capturing the trials and tribulations she has faced as a curvy model.
