The Price of a Royal Romance: Kate Middleton Quits the Sisterhood

Kate-middleton-rowing

The Daily Mail is reporting that Buckingham Palace has stepped in and prevented Kate Middleton from continuing her participation in the Sisterhood charity rowing challenge. The official word is that fears over adequate security is the issue. However, Richard Kay, the author of the article, says that the decision was based on uneasiness over the event becoming a media circus because of Kate’s presence.

So, is this a sign that Kate and Prince William are in the serious track? It’s too bad that Kate can’t pursue an activity that she clearly enjoys, because of the hordes of paparazzi that follow her around. It’s one thing for her to decide to quit on her own, but to be told by the palace to do so is something else. And this, without even an official confirmation about the status of her relationship to Prince William. I can’t imagine how it would be if/when they get engaged. Is this the price of a royal romance? Is Kate willing to pay it to be with Prince William?

I hope it works out for both of them. I hope Kate finds a happy middle ground, where she can engage in the activities she enjoys without Clarence House getting involved in some way.

I think she is upset about pulling out but realizes that it could have been a huge security risk. I’m glad to know that she has William by her side no matter what. She is willing to do this because of her relationship with William.
