Last week, an announcement was made about Woolworths getting souvenir merchandise ready in case Prince William and Kate Middleton get engaged soon.
The chain-store’s designs range from traditional china plates and thimbles to a mouse mat and a range of Will and Kate-shaped pick and mix sweets.
The retailer’s bosses said they wanted to be prepared in case the couple announced they intended to marry.
But a spokesman stressed that the chain had no “inside information”.
There is no date on the designs. The store just “plans to be ready”.
There have been numerous speculations in the press about an “imminent” royal engagement. Maybe Woolworths is simply jumping on the bandwagon and don’t want to lose out on the huge sales opportunity should an engagement be announced.
