Today, the third day of the games, the prince visited the Aquatic Centre for the swimming event. He chatted with Games participants Winnie Groenbech of Denmark and Geoff Huegill of Australia.

The World Masters Games is held every four years, and is “open to people of all abilities, rather than just elite athletes, with the emphasis on participation.” Competition requirements are mostly just minimum ages for the different sports.

Prince Frederik has been a long-time supporter of the Olympic Games. He joins the following royals on the committee: Princess Anne of Britain, Prince Albert of Monaco and Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

The prince and a group of schoolchildren participated in activities at the Nature Fitness Track at Lille Hareskov. The outdoor events included tug-of-war, foot races, and log rolling.

Prince Frederik, who is an avid sportsman, was perfectly at home interacting with the youngsters and encouraging them to pursue an active lifestyle. Looks like the kids had a great time trying to beat the prince (something that doesn’t happen to everyone every day!).

The goal of the Save the Children campaign is to reduce the mortality rates of children under 5 years old all over the world. The organization addresses issues such as poverty, disease and emergency situations, in which young children are affected.

The chairman of the ‘Save the Children’ chapter in Denmark, Mimi Jacobsen, was also present at the launch.

The sporty prince clearly enjoyed the 103-kilometer (64 miles) cycling race. The marathon takes more than 7 hours to complete. It winds through forest trails before ending in Hillerod, Denmark.

He also competed last year, and so there is reason to look forward to his participation again next year!

The play is on a limited run at the castle, from August 25 to August 30, and stars Jude Law in the title role.

Incidentally, the fire alarm went off during opening night, but no fire was found at the premises. I’m not sure whether Prince Frederik and Princess Mary were present when it happened.

The entire family looked packed ready to have fun on their trip. Even 3-year-old Prince Christian had a little backpack of his own. Though attendants were no doubt with them, Prince Frederik wasn’t averse to lugging most of the baggage by himself. Princess Mary also gave a hand in loading up the baby stroller.

Princess Mary’s cool and casual look is an easy one to copy for the summer. Also check out her white fedora with a black band, matching that of Prince Frederik.

It’s been a busy day for the Danish Crown Couple, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary. After accompanying their Greek visitors to the Lousiana Museum of Modern Art and the Windmill Park Middelgrunden, the Crown Prince and Princess met Dr. Karolos Papoulias and his wife Mrs. May Panou Papoulias at the Danish Museum of Art in Copenhagen.

This time, Prince Frederik’s brother Prince Joachim was present as well.

For this museum visit, Princess Mary changed into cream dress under a light jacket with embroidered detailing. It’s a little amusing how Prince Frederik seems to be standing at attention in this next photo. But he’s very relaxed in the photo after that, the handsome rogue. ;)

Denmark’s Prince Frederik accompanied the visiting Greek President Dr. Karolos Papoulias and his wife Mrs. May Panou Papoulia on a sailing trip today, May 19, 2009. The group’s destination was the Windmill Park Middelgrunden in Copenhagen Harbour.

The Middelgrunden Windmill Farm, located in the Oeresund, is the world’s largest offshore windmill farm. It has 20 state-of-the-art windmills that provide 3% of Copenhagen’s electricity needs. On one of the photos below, you can see some of the windmills in the background. Prince Frederik looks like he was having a really fun time during the trip. The welcome ceremony was held outdoors with a traditional parade in review. Queen Margrethe, Prince Consort Henrik, Prince Frederik, Princess Mary and Prince Joachim attended the ceremony.

The Danish royal family hosted a state banquet in honor of the visit by Greek dignitaries. The banquet was held at Fredensborg Castle on the evening of May 18.

State banquets are one of the best times to see the royals, because of the pomp that surrounds these affairs, and of course for the lovely gowns of the royal ladies! I only have photos of Crown Princess Mary now, but they don’t disappoint. She is lovely as ever, in her light blue ruffled gown and with her dashing husband, Crown Prince Frederik, by her side.
