In an upcoming tell-all book about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, one of the exciting tidbits that has been teased from the book is that Angelina has gotten plastic surgery. No, it wasn’t her famous lips – she got laser eye surgery to correct her vision. Maybe it’s just us, but that’s not nearly as scandalous as a boob job or chin implants. Do you think Lasik qualifies as a form of plastic surgery, or is this reaching?

This week we asked you a bunch of things, mostly about fashion. Here’s what you had to say:

Sixty percent of you said that you would never, ever dress like JWoww. Exactly zero percent of you said that you’d be happy to wear her scarf-shirts. This may not bode well for her upcoming fashion line.
However, 37 percent of you would wear the “Fuck Her Face” necklace favored by Diablo Cody and her girlfriends. An additional 34 percent would still wear it but pretend that it was just a joke instead of a major lifestyle statement.
When news broke that Madonna was working on an upcoming collection for Macy’s, it was a dead heat between the pink Marilyn dress from “Material Girl” and the neo-cowgirl ensemble from “Don’t Tell Me” as the Madge look you most wanted to copy. The red string Kabbalah bracelet, despite its purported good luck properties, was the least-desired of the options.

Poll: Which Madonna Look Would You Wear?

It was announced earlier this week that Madonna is doing a collection for Macy’s that could be out as early as this fall. Her Madgesty will be doing a junior’s line first (maybe with help from Lourdes, who is already the budding stylista herself?). However, in absence of the actual collection, let’s engage in some possible theories about what the clothes might look like.

Actress Kristin Scott Thomas told Women’s Wear Daily that she loves to wear corsets. That makes sense, considering how many period films she’s appeared in. However, could corsets work for daily wear when your job isn’t playing a swooning Victorian heroine? Tell us what you think.

75 Defining Moments in Fashion – News from Women’s Wear Daily

The daily fashion bible, Women’s Wear Daily, has had a total site redesign (that is fabulous, by the way – kudos, WWD!), and you might be interested to know that they are wide open to the public (non subscribers) for this week only.

In celebration of their new site, the editors at WWD have offered up 75 Defining Moments in Fashion – which you can vote on for the next three weeks (yes, even after WWD closes back down to only subscribers). Here is how it works:

The 75 Defining Moments in Fashion poll will be fielded in conjunction with Entertainment Tonight, the #1 syndicated entertainment newsmagazine in the world. WWD Executive Editor Bridget Foley will announce the contest on this evening’s show and will explain the month-long voting process. At the beginning of each of the first three weeks, 25 new “moments” will be revealed on WWD.com/definingfashion for readers to vote upon. On August 25^th, the top 15 moments from the previous weeks will be voted on to reveal the #1 Defining Moment in Fashion, which will be announced simultaneously on Entertainment Tonight and WWD.com on September 2^nd.

And I have to say, the best part about this is that when you cast a vote, you will be entered into a drawing to win a handbag worth $2500. Sweetness!

Plastic Surgery to further your career?

Monster.com recently ran a poll that asked “Do you think having plastic surgery or cosmetic dental work would help advance your career?”

More than half the nearly 22,000 people who answered the question, 53 percent, said yes. Less than a third, 31 percent, said it would not. [source]

Sad to say, but I can see where it would help some people along the way. You know I am not a proponent of elective surgery (of the plastic variety anyway), but I wonder how many perfectly well suited people are out there that are not advancing in their careers as quickly as “Barbie,” their co-worker. Interesting question…

A Day of Beauty Poll

The question is: How long does it take you to get ready for a really special event? Think an elegant party or even a really special first date. Something like a wedding could be stretched out over a week, so skip that kind of getting ready.

I hope to hear from you on this poll, I will be interested to see if I am really out of the ordinary here, but based on the study I referred to below, I doubt I am.

Beauty in the Workplace Poll Results

Here were the final results:

Do you think that beauty is more important than knowledge in the workplace?

Yes: 12%
No: 56%
Only if you are a model/actress/ect…: 32%

I am glad to see that most of those of you who chose to answer the poll last week believe that there is more to a job/career than looking beautiful. Most of us have probably had run ins with people in our lives that think they can get away with anything due to their smashing good looks, and unfortunately, a lot of times they really do. Fortunately I am not so blessed with looks that are good enough to make me think I can get away with anything, so I arm myself with knowledge instead. LOL

You might take another look at the post that originally started this poll if this subject is interesting to you- Gail and I shared some more thoughts on the subject - feel free to join in the conversation and let me know what you think!

I put up a new poll this week – asking you if exercise is part of your daily routine. I really have a hatred of exercise myself, I think because I get sweaty, and have to start all over getting ready for the day after I exercise. Ridiculous, I know. I am an evening bath-taker, and I like it that way. Exercise just messes up my whole routine! But, like I said, I am going to make a new routine, I am just not sure yet what it is going to be, but I will be sure to let you know, probably more than you care to know. LOL

I hope you had a great weekend, I sure enjoyed my husband’s week off last week, but am ready to get my nose back to the grindstone!
