About Charlotte’s interest in riding:

I started to ride when I was very young, and it is a sport I have practised for a very long time, and it was a great pleasure for me to participate in the jumping of Monaco. event was held in the Fondelle tent; they now wished to have it in the harbour and it was a challenge.

About her participation:

It was very difficult for me because I haven’t been able to train in the last 3 weeks, so I had to leave my horse in the hands of my trainer, so it is fairly difficult to resume competition without any prior recent training. Fortunately, my horse has extraordinary concentrating powers, (or attitude, or smarts) and he was able to carry me (or support) in that slightly difficult moment, given my injury.

About her ambitions as a professional:

I really hope that in the years to come, thanks to the Global Champions Tour which is a championship event organized around the world, my participation will help and that this sport will become more popular. Prince Albert took the wheel of a model of the brand new Venturi electric car during the 2009 Formula 1 Grand Prix on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in Monaco. This was the first official demonstration of the Venturi Volage and a celebration of 25 years of Venturi Automobiles.

The Monaco Grand Prix draws the elite car makers, racers and enthusiasts every year. Prince Albert, as the royal host, gets one of the first looks at this innovative car.

Monaco’s glamorous royal family rocked the annual Rose Ball last Saturday. The theme of this year’s ‘Rock n’ Rose’ Bal de la Rose, held at the Sporting Club of Monaco, was rock and roll.

The royals turned out in support of the charity event to benefit the Princess Grace Foundation. Prince Albert was in simple tuxedo, nothing too rock and roll there. His dates for the night, his sister Princess Caroline of Hanover and girlfriend Charlene Wittstock, accessorized with the theme in mind. Princess Caroline carried flowers inside a black motorcycle helmet. Charlene, with funky hair in place, wore a single fingerless glove on her left hand.

The younger royals were represented by sister and brother Charlotte and Pierre Casiraghi. Lovely Charlotte was elegant in all-black, with a shiny leather tube top.

The celebrations included the annual Thanksgiving Mass, awarding of medals at the Prince’s Palace, Army Parade, and an evening at the Opera. Prince Albert, head of the Monagesque royal family, was dashing as always at all the events. Monaco’s Prince Albert had a full day in Munich, Germany on Tuesday, September 23, 2008.

Among his engagements was a speech about protecting the environment in the 21st  century, given during a visit to the USA cultural center “Amerikahaus” (American House). The event was organized by the American German Business Club, the Foreign Affairs Association, the Bavarian-American Center at Amerika Haus, Wirtschaftsjunioren München and the HSG Alumni Club München International. 

Prince Albert has long been known as a staunch advocate of environmental concerns, spoke about. His Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation supports environmental projects in three main areas: climate change, biodiversity and water use.

After a day’s work, Prince Albert took time to relax and stop by the 175th Oktoberfest, Munich’s most famous festival, where beer, of course, was the main attraction.

Monaco’s Prince Albert, Tour de France director Christian Prudhomme and Team CSC cyclist Frank Schleck

Prince Albert, a regular visitor to the Tour de France, is preparing to host the start of next year’s race in Monaco. During the sixth stage of the race on Thursday, he closely followed the event while riding in the car of race director Christian Prudhomme.

“I think it will be a very beautiful event. The Tour hasn’t been Monaco in 44 years. It’s about time,” Albert said, adding that he still does some sport to keep in shape – but only when he has time.

“It is a little bit difficult, given my agenda,” he said.

After the stage, Prince Albert met with some of the riders, including Frank Schleck of Team CSC (photo above). The royal, a former Olympian and a current member of the International Olympic Committee, will also be at the Beijing Games next month.
