I totally missed the American Music Awards the other night. But thanks to You Tube I caught the highlights or better yet low lights including J. Lo falling on her most famous asset, Janet’s “she still got it” hit medley, and Adam Lambert’s WTF performance. Fashion wise, most of the stars came out dressed to impress. Some succeeded, and others….well, you be the judge.

Alicia Keys, the number one stunner!

Alicia Keys is like a fine wine. The girl only gets better with time. I think she looks lovely in this leg baring sparkly blue mini with matching, strappy blue pumps. What’s your vote: Hot or Not?

Does Rihanna rock in this frock?

Rihanna is certainly no shrinking violet. Here she takes yet another risk on the red carpet. To me, the flowery frock seems more appropriate for the Country Music Awards than for the American Music Awards. What do you think — is Rihanna’s cut-out couture gown Hot or Not?

Leona, we don't need another hero.

Leona Lewis likes to have fun with fashion. The pointy bust line black leather (or is that vinyl?) mini is sexy in a Tina Turner “Beyond Thunderdome” kind of way. Yet, in this ensemble the English rose looks like a good girl playing dress up like a bad girl. Does Leona’s dress sizzle or fizzle?

Angela Bassett is (Literally) One Hot Mama!

Angela Bassett is one of Hollywood’s most talented and most beautiful actresses. Yet, since her breakthrough roles in the mid ’90s — her Oscar-nominated portrayal of Tina Turner in “What’s Love Got to Do With It”; Stella in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back“; a wife scorned in “Waiting to Exhale“; and Betty Shabazz in “Malcolm X” — Angela’s star power seems to have diminished.

But she’s continued to tackle respectable roles. Most recently she’s had a recurring role as a tough doc on “ER” and a starring role as a struggling single Mom in Tyler Perry’s predictably melodramatic-and-entertaining “Meet the Browns.” In theaters today, Bassett plays yet another strong-willed matriarch, Voletta Wallace, in “Notorious” — a biopic based on the life of slain Brooklyn rapper Christopher Wallace (a.k.a. Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G.).

Perhaps her greatest role, however, is as a real life Mom. In 2008 Bassett deservedly received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and her loving husband, actor Courtney B. Vance, and their adorable twins Slater Josiah and Bronwyn Golden were there to cheer her on.

What’s age got to do with it? At 50, Bassett is literally one Hot Mama!
