Tribal Style from Tanya Lochridge

Tribal jewelry is still a hot trend and was showing up all over the place in both New York and London during Fashion Week. It’s a fun way to add a little exotic glamor to your look – just one piece is enough to up the wow factor!

Tanya Lochridge is an indie designer, based in Oregon who creates lush, layered jewelry that’s full of tribal style. She used everything from wood to acrylics to create her jewelry – including some unique beads called “Kazuri”. Kazuri beads are ceramic beads, handmade in Africa by African artisans, using clay harvested directly from the ground.

Here are some of my favorite picks from her collection – the links go to pages, not the individual pieces, so just scroll down the page to view.

“Makes The Scene” necklace, featuring wood beads in blacks and browns, two styles of decorated bone tube beads, acrylic saucer beads and bronze Japanese glass beads.

“The Simple Look of Nature” necklace, made with big wood beads average one inch, wood floating rings and “colors of jasper” Japanese glass beads.

Kazuri black & platinum bracelet, with three Kazuri beads, Czech crystals and more.

Tribal Jewelry from Paris Fashion Week

Designers showing their Spring & Summer collections during Paris Fashion Week have kept up the tribal feel in their jewelry that we’ve seen from other fashion weeks.

Barbara Bui used lots of necklaces to make a big impact for her runway show:

This is definitely a look that can translate well in the real world – of course, you may want to consider just wearing a couple of necklaces instead of half a dozen…

Lanvin kept to their ultra-embellished aesthetic with their lush jewelry:

With everything from peacock feathers to sterling silver motifs, semi-precious stones to antiqued metal chains, these jewelry pieces are sure to appeal to the woman who likes a whole lot of look from her jewelry.

Loewe created chunky, studded chains for their runway show:

They also sent their models down the runway wearing black necklaces as well, but I love the combination of the different shades of warm brown and amber in particular.
